Hi there, just ordered my WRX over here in the states. I was really wanting to wait for the STI to come over here but It's not supposed to be until 2004. So I had to settle on the WRX. Well, I'm not really settling but I was hoping to get the extra power of the STI. I really didn't expect to like the WRX that much but after the first half throttle in first gear during the test drive It would have been hard to wipe the smile off of my face.

Anyways the questions that I have are. I've been doing some reading on APS club spec kit and the APS RT spec kit. And was wondering if anyone had any input on these kits? Also does anyone have any sweet power tricks or simple mods for decent power? Has anyone had problems with the stock clutch with kits like these? Is the trans easy to drop on the WRX? And how durable is the 5 speed trans? Also one more, is the STI 6 speed a direct drop in for the regular WRX?

I'm simply looking to break the car in and maybe after a year or so look into buying a kit like these that will get me into the high 12's or low 13's in the quarter. But still maintain my every day drivability.

Thanks your help is much appreciated.
Also is this a euro web site?

vishnu performance makes some reliable kits. They do some serious testing on them before they get released. Currently they have a very popular stage 0 but stage 1 is soon to be released. They are one of the real respected wrx tuners like APS but their kits arnt that expensive. In my opinion the APS kits are a little bit expensive. As far as the tranny goes I have no idea. I know you can make the 6 speed work but there is some mods you have to do to do it.

Hi there thanks for the info I checked out Vishu and he seems to make alot of sense as far as a lower end kit goes.
As far as my brakes and suspenion go. I'm not planning on autocrossing or anything like that. I've been a die hard mustang guy since Vortech first appeared on the scene. I have had 2 low 11 second mustangs in the past with stock brakes and that never really bothered me so I don't think I'll be worrying about that right away.

Thanks again, Any more info would be greatly appreciated

I got a quote the other day for the club spec kit which I think is the stage 1 kit. It was $3080.00 US currency installed. Sounds a bit pricey for me considering what you get but if it runs flawless then it would be worth it.

Why dont you check out http://www.i-club.com and ask over there. All these questions you are asking I am sure have been addressed over there. No offense, but I come here to read about the STi not about WRXs. I get enough of that on the i-club. There might be a couple people here with WRXs but I don't think most of us have one cause we are trying to hold out for an STi.

Hey sorry buddy I thought that this was the WRX and STI forum. But obviously you guys don't want to hear from us WRX guys. I guess I'll check out that other web site you mentioned.

Good luck getting that STI. I know I would if I could hold out that long but that's not happening. After I took my first WRX test drive I was hooked. And let me tell you I have owned mustangs 2 vettes a 99' coupe and a 94' both of which I had numerous problems with. THe 99' even burned a quart of oil every 800 miles. What utter crap. I'm glad I leased it.

My friend just installed two of them on customer's cars and can't quit talking about the quality, etc...

About the WRX tranny. A friend of mine did a lot of street racing and some at the track. He didn't do to many mods...intake, exhaust, BOV, pillar mount gages...simple mods. But the MORON only had the car for 3 months before he lost first and second on his tranny. To many 61/2, 7,000 starts pretty much killed the gears. So if you plan on something similar I'd look to upgragding the whole trans or at least first and second gear.

Heres your best bet to get the WRX running the way you want it to. Get all your mods you want. Dont install them all if your gonna go hard core IE FMIC, turbo, etc. Take your car to turboXS and have them dynotune the car with their unichip system. This will make sure your car runs the best and safest. Give them a call and ask about it. They have an AWD dyno. OOoOoooOoo!!!
