Hello my name is Anthony and just bought my first Subaru. 2018 WRX STi in white. Absolutely loving this car. Mods are an iag aos, kartboy short shifter and Cobb access port.

I have spark plugs, motul oil and a cyl 4 cooling mod on order.
I plan on keeping it as is since it is my daily driver.

Good evening Anthony,

Congratulations on your new WRX STI and welcome to the Subaru community.
You will enjoy the driving feel on these cars.
I have a 20 and I enjoy driving it everywhere I go to.
What are your plans with this car later down the line?

Max
Hi Max. The most I would consider doing in an intake and a downpipe. I do not want to have a loud car so I’ll be sticking with the oem cat back.

I forgot to add that I also ordered upgraded oem kicker speakers. I’m not a big sound guy but I currently have two dead speakers. The theme with this car is oem+
Hello Anthony,

If you do change your mind about getting an catback in the future, I would recommend the Cobb SS 3 inch catback. I have one installed on my STI and it is a bit louder than stock but can be easily be daily driven. There is no drone at all with mine. I hope you enjoy your new car and have good memories with it.

Thank you for the kind words and the warm welcome. I will look into that cat back. I have a hks carbon ti on my Supra and that is borderline too loud for me.

Not all are going to be near as loud as an hks lol.

welcome. If you want to have fun keeping without adding power. Mod the suspension/tires. Regardless the car is a blast either way.

if you haven’t already I’d look into the killer b oil pickup and baffle combo. It’s a must imo
Welcome! I also daily my STI, so my mods are minimal (Cobb Stage 1 OTS, Cobb CBE, HKS Coilovers, Wheels/Tires, Killerb oil Pickup). I'd do what Karlot is recommending and just work on the suspension/tires if you must tinker. To be honest, in stock form the STI is properly set up and my mods are just because I can't leave well enough alone.

Saying that, If I could only choose 1 of my mods, it would be the Cobb CBE. It's not too loud at all and our engine has such a beautiful rumble it should be crime to have it fully muffled.

I'd also look into doing some small interior/exterior additions, I like the OEM stuff and the OEM front lip and side skirts help give it a lower appearance. A stock STI looks great in my eyes.

Welcome!

I daily my STI as well, so im kind of going the same route as you with the reliability mods and not doing to much.

From what I learned is just stay on top of the maintenance and all should be good. lol
Welcome
IAG AOS is a good reliability mod in my opinion.

If you have a supra no need to make the STI powerful lol
Where's everyone getting the money to buy supras god dam

Supras are just crazy now. I bought mine in 2006 well before prices skyrocketed.

I’m still here dreaming of a Supra for track use. Though I plan on a mkv
Welcome Anthony! Great color choice :)

I am not well read on the VA chassis, but I would also recommend you look into a COBB AP, just for the stage 1 shelf map tune. Especially if you're going to grab an intake and down pipe. At least on the GD and GR chassis, the stage 1 map really makes a huge difference on the power band and throttle response in first gear. Much smoother for city driving. In addition, if you do end up getting the DP/CBE/Intake and decide you want a bit more power then you are ready for the stage 2 map whenever you want to swap it on.

And if you are looking at CBE - I would also recommend Invidia Q300. I have one on my GD. Outside of cold startup, it is nearly as quiet as the stock system at idle and no drone on the highway (unless you're doing over 80-85 MPH). Looks very clean and is really quite a nice DD'able exhaust, but sounds a hell of a lot better than stock when you want to get on it.

Really awesome Supra as well.
Forgot to add the salesman said two months before the car was traded in the block was replaced. Are there any markings to look for that will prove this? Also heard all new blocks are type ra blocks. Is this true and is there a way to know it I have one?

They are different cars, with different costs . . . for that matter every 06 car is outdated today - like my 05 STI . . .

When I bought my Supra in 06 it was already 11 years old lol but yes very different cars.

I’m enjoying the Sti for what it is and I’m having a blast. It’s on a stage one 93 oct flash which really smoothed out the throttle. I’ve been keeping the boost at wastegate pressure 8 psi

You should be getting more than 8psi with an ots map.

im on the 93 high wastegate map and get a max of 17 psi in sport sharp. I keep it intelligent for the most part.

I constantly forget there are drive modes in the newer cars lol. My gd has none of that.
