New STi Owner

Hi all,

Just thought I'd drop-in and say hello since I purchased a brand new STi last weekend. She's an ice silver metallic sedan. After fumbling around on a few forums I finally found IWSTI.com. Hope to learn as much as I can from the veterans on here. As much information as there is out there in the various forums, it's always nice to find a forum specific to the model one owns.

I'm about a week into the engine break-in period as described in the owner's manual. Can't wait for that first 1,000 miles so I can really see what she can do. However, I've had quite a few cars over the years, and I can say that I really enjoy the relative simplicity of the STi's interior coupled with the sophistication of the engine and drivetrain. It's not overly bogged-down with electro-nannies like some of the current offerings on the market.

Best car ever.

Welcome! Check NASIOC as well. I have found that the people aren't nearly as friendly over there as they are here, but there is a lot of great information there.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I'm registered as "Jalapeno" on NASIOC as well and have been reading the threads over there for a while. Seems like a good bunch of people here, at least the "tone" of the posts here seems fairly civil.

Joel
Welcome! This forum has a wealth of information just like any other forums. You just have to learn to dig through all the bad posts.

Enjoy your stay. :D
Dchee,

Thanks for the welcome!
Welcome to subie world. Don't hesitate to ask me for any advice via PMs. I enjoy helping others with car stuff.
Thanks again guys. My wife and I have actually owned a Subaru for quite some time, but since it is hers she won't let me do any mods or anything to it. She drives an '05 Outback 3.0R which is a pretty cool car in my opinion.

Regarding mods for the STi, I think I'll take it slow at first and stick to some tasteful cosmetic tweaks here and there. It's my DD so I don't want to have the car taken apart every other weekend. Although, the Cobb Accessport seems to be the required starting point if one wants to start modding the engine.

Joel
Tint & sound system was my first mod.
But you can't go wrong with a weighted shift knob from Moddiction, or LED interior lights.
Hi Guys,

Yeah I think tiny might be a good idea. Sometimes it gets a bit warm in Arizona. I'm at Tucson Subaru right now having XM radio installed. I have the stock HU and I know a lot of folks swap it out for aftermarket stuff. But, I kind of like the low-key appearance. I just need to figure out if the Subaru 10" kicker sub is worth the $660 parts and labor they just quoted me. Yikes! I've been reading some posts on how to splice in some aftermarket slimline subs but I don't want to do a hack-job on it.

I'll be sure to read as many stickies as possible. Hate to be the redundant guy...(ignore my above thoughts on the stereo).

Regards,
Joel
