GEEK PHONE

No later than November.

Baja launches in Fall.
New Forester in Late Summer/Fall.
2003 Legacy/Outback with facelift and new features in Fall.
2003 (MY) - 1968 = 35 (some of you will know what this means)

:) Figure out my new theory yet?? :)

Where is all this new info coming? JJ saying by November, Nick on I-Club saying by August. Its not April fools again is it? I kind of hope it doesn't come so early because I probably won't be able to afford one until next year. I guess I could just get a 2004.

Also, Nick was saying there may be 2 versions available, a 280hp and a 320hp. I guess its more fuel for the fire.

no
not two versions. maybe in japan. but not here nor ever here.
subies sell well enough but not THAT well. and uh the 280hhp ver IS the 320hp ver. everyone knows/hopes this. you can buy that 320hp ver for more though :D. we'll be lucky just to get the STi. honestly i dont see why they are releasing it over here. i know they'll make money, but its gunna cost em a lil less than they make. americans think (in general) we were are so the shit that we dont have to put our steering wheels on the other side so we dont export to japan really. so why should they?? if i were them id keep my BAD ASS toy out of the states. just to give em a "fuck you, asshole"

JJ yeah i was figuring soon, but not sept i like the theory though. i mean MAYBE b/c of 9/11 and all. which is THE DAY im getting my WRX (my fuck you to terrorism, they caused me to not get a bank loan last year for a chevy stepside) but you said the baja is coming late summer. so they'll be pushing that HARD... after all you know how those soccer moms and their tall station wagontrucks are. gotta have a new one cuz this one is ALREADY !!TWO!! years old.

the baja looks AWESOME compared to everyother crossover (like the aztec or avalanche.) all i ask is that the WRX be bumped to 260bhp and theSTi be rated @ the proper 320bhp and that the entire subie line up gets the 227bhp EJ205. imagine a 230hp legacy GT for the wifey. mmmm. or a 230hp outback, oh wait! turbo charge the 3.0H6!!!!!!!!! OMFG! that would own. i could BEAT porches. WRX w/ a H6! after i blow my EJ205 im getting the H6.

ya'll know that the previous year WRXs in japan had 276hp just like the STi?????? they bumped it down to 250 this year but they STILL get the ACVS system on the WRX!!!!! not freggin fair. anyone know if you could put the ACVS on a WRX, all they are is pulleys that rotate at a certain rpm right? or something to that effect?

The whole idea of 2 versions seem pretty wild to me too, and I'd would probably just dismiss it as hear say if it hadn't come from Nick (one of the original founders of I-club). Here is a link to the thread:

It seems like they wouldn't make as much money but you never know. Maybe the full blown STi is going to be around $32K and they feel that they could have a detuned version and leave off the brembos and the racing seats and a few other options and sell it for $27K to appeal to people like me that can't quite afford $32K. Well, I'm probably just dreaming anyway.

I think what is interesting about the two proposed new models is that they seem to be roughly equivalent to the European and Japanese models-- in Europe they get a 265ps version-- ours could be slightly higher due to slightly higher octane, etc., just like our wrx is slighly higher; in Japan they get a ~320ps version, rated at 280ps due to that gentlemans agreement.

If the other rumour is true that in September they will get the refreshed body style in Japan, maybe they have a lot of current body parts to use up. Why not sell them in the hot North American Impreza market with two levels of trim-- STi (using the european engine flavour) and STi-expensive (using the Japanese spec engine and all the features like Rays wheels) :)

Having Solberg drive it out would be awesome. They beat Mistubishi to the punch, and gain some more fans. When the EVO comes, and there are people moving away from Subaru (if that happens) there is a refreshed body style to refuel the sales yet again.

Hmmm, yeah, I guess this is in my dreams ;-)

I'll get my agreement and wrb sti :p

I really dont like some dealers around here, lies, lies lies. I know the STI is going to be realeased soon, and I asked him when. He said It would be better in "his opinion" (who cares) to get the regular WRX, because STI's probably wont be out for 3 years. They all think your dumb, and just wanna get their money. Guess he lost a customer. 8)

Thanks.

91TB78 makes a good point. Hopefully they aren't all bad apples.

The first time I went to my local Subaru dealer I had the misfortune of meeting one of those types of guys. He was trying to sell me a WRX, telling me how they can be modded and all, but that's not what I was there for. Second time around I met up with an ok guy. He's been more helpful and straight forward.
