Hey all,
I thought to see what you guys thought about the marketing of the Evo vs. the STi?
I just saw a Evo commercial on TV, and I have to say, I'm impressed with the way they are marketing the Evo. The tag line is something like "We started a religeon" with scenes of people hanging out around lancers, clips of WRC races with cheering fans, etc, etc...
Then I see a sample STi commercial, and it has similar WRC footage, but no spectators...just the car driving around a semi empty track. not quite as exciting, and not emphasizing the long rally history and the huge following the STi already has in the rest of the world. Plus I would think that the Subaru marketing dept would emphasize the daily driving attributes a little more, since to me that was what set this car apart from the EVO...i.e. it's my daily driver and I like my kidneys.
It doesn't really matter to me, since I'm getting the STi anyway, but I can't help but wish Subaru's marketing dept was a little better than it was...Mitsu's and VW's marketing dept are a level above Subaru's. Guess that's what happens when you're a engineering centric car company.
