BuDDyLeE had a good idea, assuming that we get our STi's Spring 2003. Assuming.

After the break-in period, why not have one big meet-up, much like the various meets that take place in Europe? Although it would need to be a more concerted effort given the limited distribution of the STi compounding the effect of much lower population density, I think that many could/would make the journey.
I'm not suggesting even thinking about details at this point, but I'm wondering what the general attitude toward such a commmunity-type event would be...

I might even be interested in this. I am actually trying to think where I can drive my STi when I pick it up to break it in, cause it will be hard to commute on the expressways here in Chicago and keep it at a decent speed and under 4000k rpms. BTW, what is the recommended break in period? I am actually considering driving home to Michigan to visit family just to say hi and turn around and come back(600 miles round trip). I am also sure when this thing comes out everybody and their uncle will be trying to get me to race, it will be hard to ignore.

Yeah I thought about the highway speeds. I was actually thinking of taking mostly side roads that I know of, but forget the idea all together cause it would make the trip miserablly long. I would be better off just driving around Chicago and the burbs to break it in where I can more easily vary the speeds. I thought most new cars nowadays only need about 300 miles to break in. I also remember reading a lot on other Subaru forums about people taking about 1000 miles to break in their WRXs. I will probably do the 1000 mile break in cause that should be more than enough. It will be a long 1000 miles though. Actually, I wonder what it says in the manual. You lucky *******s out there with an STi, what does it say in your owner's manual about break in and what are you doing?

I agree with Candaman, when my Dad (I'm only 16) got his Outback, the dealer said to wait 3000 miles before using cruise control.
I'd be up for a meeting, although I don't know if I will be getting my STi in spring of 2003, I graduate then. But maybe the next year:p. If I can afford it.
