His gixxer....not jixer..

For you to pull that you would need another car....and it would have to be a drag machine. A GSX600R runs a [email protected]!! For you to do that with the STi would be very, very, VERY difficult. Certainly not stock..try a complete engine overhaul with upgraded turbo, and probably nitrous..then maybe..maybe...and only a couple of times since by doing the mods I suggested you just detroyed reliability.

IF you want to "run" with him..buy a bike..perhaps the gixxer 1000..that will smoke his socks off...but remember bikes aren't just straight-line machines..so for you to buy a newbie to buy a 1000 racebike would be very foolish...

is 11's, daily driven, gonna b too much for the car? am i too greedy? i mean, nothing wrong with 12's; i'm sure that's not stretchin the car's reliability. again, just babblin here.

Worth 40 to 45K???

hmm..what year. From 2001 and on the GSXR600 was a fuel-injected 100hp machine...it is lightweight, whereas the older models were much heavier and had less power. If it is an older one, I still think 11s is stretching it too far. You would need at least 500hp to hit that in the STi...

yeah, he got it a couple years ago, used. he said he could definitely run a 12, so i was leavin room for error. i think if i'm in the low 12's, it'll b a good race.

ipod too!!

Forget using the STi for drag racing...check out Richie Rosado's MR2-powered 1982 Toyota Corolla!

I'm not kidding...this sleeper looks like a granny car...except it runs 8s! It's in turbo magazine's Jan '03 issue...2.2 liter running 38 psi of boost pumping out 760 WHP lol

keep in mind that it's incredibly difficult to launch a bike in the first place, especially a gsxr. if you could do a standing eighth-mile and do best three of five you'd prolly take'em. in fact, if you beat him in the first couple of runs he'd prolly flip his bike trying to save face.
of course, i'd ridicule him into absolute shame if he challenged me. what's his deal? "hey, let's set up a race i know i can win."

I ride a motorcycle as well as a car (RC51) and i feel that I would have been a very happy camper if i had a car that even came close to my motorcycles speed :)

(easy things to make a bike be a killer in quarter mile) drop a tooth on gearing, slip on or full system and better breathing, those mods completely transform any bike to alot better performing machines..

I would think that it would be very very very hard for a STi to beat a motorcycle on the quarter...

I find it hard to believe people are already asking questions like this. We don't even have the car in front of us, let alone have any idea how the car will respond to modifications. New engine, new setup....

This goes right along with the people saying they are shooting for 500 hp. Wonderful goal to have in mind, but these "kiddie estimates" don't have any kind of real life basis yet.

No offense, but I really roll my eyes at questions or comments like this at this point. Kinda like when a Civic owner comes up to you and says he going for 400 hp and running 10s. Suuuuure ya are. Do you have any idea how to do that other than NAAWS and a turbo?

I'm sure the car will be very capable, but the question is so general with a car that only general details are known.

I ride a Suzuki TL1000R and I have been behind a new 911turbo and he was next to a new Viper with aftermarket goodies. The light turned green and the Viper lit up the tires (like about 90% of the people who drive Vipers would do in that situation) and the 911turbo just squated down and took off like a big sling-shot. Of course me on my bike was on the 911turbo's tail the whole way until I decided to pass which was way sooner than a quarter mile. But there are sure ways to get the STi faster than a 911turbo and there are definitely ways to get a bad launch on a motorcycle(especially while worrying about flipping it over). Just thought I would tell my little story because it was a time when I was laughing out loud in my helmet for about a half an hour.

Yeah, I must say this is a ridiculous post...the STi will not beat the bike, or for that matter any modern sportbike..with a rider who has actually ridden his/her bike more than a few times. Even a novice, ham-fisted, newbie would smoke the STi....sorry..

get a bike dude..save an STi for someone else!
