Availability and allocation will affect the likelyhood of being able to negotiate a 'Fleet Deal'. Subaru is in charge of both of these factors. I will be sharing Subaru's plans for allocation (as I understand them) in another post real soon.
Supposedly, Subaru is not going to allow Presales ('Fleet' deals). If this is the case then it will be the first time that Subaru of America sales managers can remember Subaru ever pulling this stunt.
Basically, If Subaru does not allow Presales then it becomes very important that you know you are doing business with a reputable and truthful dealer. This type of non-presell allocation gives the dealers a very strong position to sell them in whatever manner they choose. There may be some guidelines here, but you get my point. That is to say the dealer has stronger control over price and disbursement.
I know that I am painting a bit of a bleak picture, but something tells me all of this positioning is part of the new car launch-hype. If so, lets hope that it simmers down a bit shortly after initial shipments are made in the Summer. We will just have to wait and see...
PS: Get your name on a list...
