Hello Subie World,

This journal is way overdue but it’s time to catch up and start tracking since its time to play.
Due to the history of the car i should've called for a lemon but i didn't know about the law till it was too late.

IG:BoostZeus

------------------------ THE BUY ------------------------
i was always a fan of the boxer rumble and not to mention i lost my previous car in the horrified snow storm. So Hello AWD. My intent was to get a 04-07, but those were hard to come by at a good price and condition. I was also looking for an Evo 9 but same case.

Driving by a Subaru dealership everyday to work i noticed a GR sedan, black and fully loaded for a damn deal!. The day i walk in to make the bite, it was sold THAT day but was informed of a 2015 Launch Edition arriving the following day. With 267 miles on the clock as they drove it from NJ to VA which i was pretty sure it was beat on all the way home.

i headed over to a Mitsubishi dealer to check out an Evo X. The Salesman takes me on a test drive and as he points towards some back roads...I WOT and hes two handing the "Oh Shit bar". i ended up enjoying his expression more than the car itself. HA. The Evo was nice but the trunk was just a bummer, huge on the outside but dinky on the inside. Coming from a Coupe i wanted something more spacious so i decided to wait for the Launch Edition. Not only, i just didn't know how i felt about a 5 speed and horrid stories about the trans.

Next day arrives and with my baby face i learned that i never am able to be taken serious and was not able to negotiate. Hell, they didn't even let me test drive and also feeling like a kid in a candy shop didn't help either. I was hesitant at first because I’m a neutral color car enthusiast but the blue and gold was such a tradition, so i made the bite the next day. After a week or so the color scheme did grow and i just do now LOVE the blue, even though it’s the most popular color i see driving around but it’s okay to blend.

I ended up getting the extended warranty, because after some research before purchasing i noticed that there were issues with the pistons/tune to engine detonation. Especially at the time i was making decent money but still a check to check lifestyle so i wanted to be sure if something were to happen then it would be covered....and it covered A LOT..At first i regretted spending the extra 6k but after you see this history...i did get that money's worth. However i still blame the "Drive" from NJ to VA. Also got "Free" oil changes up to 36k (Per service interval) but i swear that was charged somewhere in the out the door price. Also got Ding Monkey which i should've taken advantage of which was then wasted.

I've learned to not always listen to the dealer about oil change intervals and depends on driving conditions, be so easily eager to buy, negotiate via email and to also check out other dealers and to get a lower mileage if brand new. Though they did throw in them all season mats, trunk mat and two mugs...lol

For those who has seen my name pop up, please do excuse my newb/dumb threads and questions. I've learned a lot these past few years and do feel quite enlightened.
And so much more to learn with a 400+ HP Animal!

Out here to help the community every way i can!

Thanks! Wow I'm surprised, some told me that E85 was less stress on the engine and definitely ELH = more healthy with even pulses but i guess the "Preventative" Mods don't play a big part if there was already a flaw from the get-go.

I'm tempted to go flex-fuel but not enough stations around me and i'm not that obsessed enough to carry big jerry cans in my backseats lol, but how are your numbers with it?

P.S. the 1.5 makes such a huge difference from stock haha. Well i thought the stock then stage 2 was fast because i was dailying a GC8 that's like 100hp. I didn't think it would be THAT much faster after the build but absolutely smiles per gallon

I got lucky that more and more of E85 station around my house ( 6-7 stations in 10 miles radius ) and it take about $24-$26 to fill up the tank :naughty:

For E85 on Stock EJ - I think it build more pressure&heat into the EJ. It was too much to handle. EJ Stock internal are terrible! That's why i kept warning PPL here not to go for with stock engine unless you have enough $ to cover.

At this point i'm very happy with 480whp ( Got tune it down from 505whp to be on safe and drive-able). I may look up for Rotate later once i got tired of this 1.5XTR. Cheers!

I'd be so thrilled to see a full tank at ~26$, but i fill up on pump 2-3x a week and i know you burn through e85 even faster so id feel like id be filling up almost every to every other day lol.

I think im probably going to stick with this setup for awhile, then once set other priorities ill probably go rotated unless more e85 gas stations start opening up and easily accessible then maybe id just go KB ELH and Flex fuel tune. I drive in I mode most of the time anyway. Since i have such a long commute while my DD is out of commission i actually try to get the best mpg using the multifunction display or try to beat mpg at every fill up lol.

09/20/18 - 77k Goodbye Universal Gold & Hello Super Coolant & Ancillary

Had a super minor coolant leak coming from the ancillary lines after the shop. Had a track day coming up but unfortunately i didn't get it squared away as fast as i anticipated.
I was actually somewhat disappointed that the shop didn't seem to see it upon letting go the car, i brought the car back stating the issue and they ran pressure tests and came with flying colors. I cleaned it up and continued to check my coolant levels and the potential line from the radiator and didn't seem to be obvious in plain site till i actually took it off and saw the mini crack. The picture below shows it but it wasn't that bad till i actually bent it.

Eventually i noticed the overflow tank was lower then the normal limit and wanted to top off the coolant to learn that the shop used a "Universal Gold Coolant". The shop builds race cars, show cars and never had a problem but after some research i also found out that's normal for non-Subaru shops to use. Saw online that the EJ's are sensitive to other brand coolant that could cause goop later so i ended up getting myself 3 gallons of Subaru super coolant and did a super flush.

Found out that you can also negotiate price at the Subaru Dealer about the coolant price, they just about price match which was nice.

Thread i opened concerning it here.
Track day w/ extreme coolant or nah?

When i got the Mishimoto Radiator, it also came with the mishi cap which i was running for a bit and of course after the shop there was lots of spirited driving. Luckily enough i had this leak in the ancillary lines for me to actually learn that the Mishi Rad Cap is also causes leaks. So technically i had two weak sources.

Did some research online and didn't find many vendors that supplied the STI 15+ ancillary lines other then HPS and another brand which was more expensive but to find out they're just about the same quality. I know that most of the EJ25 is the same platform all these years with minor changes of relocating some components so though i did see Mishimoto 08-14, but call me newb but just didn't want to risk it. So i spent the extra 100~ on the HPS.
Found here HPS SILICONE COOLANT+HEATER HOSE KIT | 2015-2018 SUBARU STI (57-1516)

The quality of these HPS were very thick, the inner diameter seems to be slightly smaller then OEM and the fitment wasn't so on point. The hoses came about an 1-1.5 inches longer when installed. When installed without cutting it, it created a minor crimp in the hose and with my OCD didn't want that. So i bought a "Perfect Hose cutter" off amazon and with the hoses being so thick, the cut didn't become so clean cut so id suggest a exacto knife. These also came with Caterpillar hose clamps that i found myself tightening every other day. I tried using the stock tension clamps but the hoses were too thick to slide them on with full open.

First time doing a coolant flush and was quite worried but worked out perfectly. I flushed the system till it was almost clear which took about 5 distilled gallons. Also got the spill proof funnel from amazon for an affordable price. Found here Radiator coolant funnel
On the last fill and burp i ended up using about 2 Gallons of Super Coolant while i saw online the radiator takes 2.5. (Was a little worried at first) I continued to burp the system and the heat just continued to blow cool air. Did two more cycles while barely any bubbles forming from the Coolant Resv tank i was getting curious what to do next. Also running back and forth between the cabin to monitor the temp and the funnel to check was kind of tedious. At one point looking through the windshield i see the coolant boiling! Turned the engine off and in just the nick of time it almost overfilled the funnel. Turned off the heater, did one last cycle and turned the heater back on and it works! (What a newb!).

It was definitely a learning experience. Also learned that the youtube videos used the tin oven pan which was nice to catch the coolant but boy, was it a PITA to pour into the funnel, learned not to let the tin fill to almost the rim and to use a funnel that fits snug into the receiver jug if no one to hold..After a couple drives, then noticing the overflow tank was low so i topped it off and was about at 2.5 gallons of coolant.

Dropped off 8 Gallons of coolant at the local county recycle center as they state coolant is a hazardous household supply. Found out that certain county recycle centers accept local residents for free and check ID or charge if out of the county. Which when i got there, they didn't check at all but it was a big maze to find the spot to dump the coolant.

And then the final product, as much as i wanted to get some colors added but figure if i were to color my piping then the blue might be off so i stuck with black for a subtle look. I also didn't replace ALL the ancillary lines, just what was needed.

10/16/18 - 79k/16k P0171, P2196, New Front/Upstream o2, MAF

The other night after a series of pulls and a blip under a tunnel i ended up throwing some codes. Time to time i do blip under a tunnel but this time i held for an extra split second and guess that was a bad idea.

Threw the p0171 (System Too Lean (Extreme Fuel Trims) and p2196 (Front o2 Sensor Signal Biased/Stuck Rich). The wideband would then run around 10-11 when i was at cruise @60mph, the correction. The AF Correction and AF Sense 1 would hit 20-25s while also at cruise. Idle was just fine and didn't drive funny. Cleared the code and continued to monitor these readings. While i was cruising it would be natural at 14-15 for a few minutes then drop to the 10-11s so i just continuously tried to let off the throttle to get it back higher. Next day i started the car and within cold start, the car threw the same two codes.

Checked for any leaks and weren't any, so i decided to swap out the front/upstream o2 and see where it takes me. Worked out pretty well and i have to mention that the beatrush underbelly panel opening for the o2 isn’t big enough for the o2 socket to go in. Was also wondering how tight to torque it down but most online state to just hand tighten till can’t turn or else over tightening will hurt the o2. Also saw some people stated not to apply anti-seize as it'll back out but i applied ever so slightly and tightened it as much as i could...

Took it for a drive and readings are all back at normal.
Used the Denso Air-Fuel Ratio Sensor 4 Wire, Direct Fit, Heated, #234-9034.
Saw decent reviews about this brand and it was readily available so i went with it.
Hoping my build/tune wont burn through this one as quick.

Edit:

Replacing the o2 did not fix the issue. A few days later after a serious of pulls, POP..CELs.
Original Thread that i followed up on with similar issue.
What would cause af correction 1 to exceed +-25?

t/sing:
Replaced front o2
Tightened all hoses, couplers and grounds
Cleaned MAF

10/18

Did a few serious of pulls, popped a CEL. p0171, p2196 (Extreme lean conditions/front o2 error)

Readings below as reference to normal vs bad.
Normal readings.
Wideband cruise. 15
Wideband WOT. 11
AF Correction 1. Cruise. Close to 0
AF Learn A -D were either 0-8
AF Sense 1. Cruise 14.
Fuel Pressure Cold start: 50
Fuel Pressure Warm: 43
Feedback Knock, Learn Knock, DAM are normal the first time around.

Bad Readings.
Wideband cruise. 10
Wideband WOT. 11
AF Learn 1. +/- 10 (Typically +/- 8 is okay per COBB)
AF Correction 1 cruise. 25 (either 0 or 25, there’s no in between)
AF Sense 1. Cruise 20

I emailed the shop but didn't get the answers i was really looking for.

Cleared the CEL and this morning while cruising home from work, the readings were normal. I decided to data log and hit WOT then bam. The 0171 and 2196 appeared. Then the bad readings went again. As stupid as this sounds, I gave it hard throttle and the readings were normal again. Intermittently the readings would go weird. I throttle it again then the readings go normal.

So I have two logs, one before the CEL that has triggered it. Then one when the readings seemed normal with the CEL

10/24
So after cleaning the MAF and still waiting for the Denso to arrive. I noticed that my MAF is already a Denso, therefore i'm assuming the shop had replaced it before? I don't think Subaru comes OEM Denso, but I can't verify that.

1-3 days i saw the Leaning fluctuates from +2 to 8 while cruise, brought my Correction 1 back down closer to 0 with periodically back at 25s, wideband dropping to 0 to 10s (bad readings mentioned previously). So it looked like it almost fixed the issue but didn't really

4-6 days now all the readings look back to normal. Learning finally +/- close to 0, Correction also fluctuates close to 0, wideband stays at around 15s at cruise. I did a light low boost pull and normal readings.

So it almost seems like I’m in the clear, just waiting to get the MAF before i do a series of pulls because that's when it seems to occur and not from only a few here and there. Assuming it also took a few days/drives for the ECU to re-learn after the MAF was cleaned.

10/25
Got the new MAF today and decided to do a serious of pulls since it seemed to only happen with that amount of load. Everything seems okay so far and all readings are stable. Guess I got an extra MAF now laying around.

Still leaves me wondering what to believe on either to believe the CEL stating running extreme lean while the AP and Wideband reads rich. Asked a few people and got quite a debate. Oh well

10/17/18 - 80k/17k Killerb Oil fill tube re locator install, Oil Change (Rotella T6 5

After getting the swap done, i noticed that opening the oil cap to fill is going to be a PITA and would have to remove the front mount piping every time. ETS though has a pretty nice customer service but whomever engineered this....smh.
Ordered a KB Re-locator fill tube and got it for a good price to find out that the 08+ fits and not only specifically for the 15+. Checking the price again, looks like i lucked out and they corrected the price.
#Item number OFTB-1
Removing the battery also gives much more room to play with.

Re: 10/16/18 - 79k/16k P0171, P2196, New Front/Upstream o2, MAF

After to top off's, DAM never went back up. Reset the AP and numbers seem fine....

Oh well
This issue is back alive...great. At least MAF was replaced so i know that isn't the problem. Back to the drawing board..

3/15/19 1st Track Day (FATT)

3/15/19 | 1st track day
Friday At the Track
Summit Point Main
Tires: Continental Extreme Contacts. Dropped PSI after each session to 32
Brakes: EBC Red stuff front, OEM rear pads
Suspension: Stock
Map: 350awhp

Installed a new MAF sensor to avoid previous issue.

1st track day and boy was it a hell of a experience. Street/touge driving/knowledge/ego left at the door!

1st Heat.
Never have I felt so nervous, anxious, scared and excited all at once to the extreme. First two laps, the instructor drove my car and showed me the line. We switched and I’m cruising the course trying to learn the late apex’s and maintaining speed. I was so nervous i rarely WOT but as far as 75-90% on exit. A Miata ended up off the track and had to get towed so we all had to pit. This made me pretty more nervous about not being able to brake after the high speed straight. My instructor was getting confused about what gearing I was in that made me a bit confused. i.e Ill be in 3rd and he thinks I’m in 5th or ill be in 4th and he thinks I'm in 6th. My natural driving ethics of signaling I had to self consciously tell myself not to signal the first couple turns and to use the whole powerband and not shift like I’m cruising. Lol We also didn’t have mics so yelling at each other wasn’t really helping. One of the big mistakes, I believe I left the e-brake up after the session. What a newb overwhelmed mistake!
Score: 3/2.5/4

2nd Heat
A little bit of confidence was built and I was pushing the car a bit harder on turns and straights. Coming up to the long high speed straight, they provided a braking zone but I would hit high 90s to low 100s and would be scared so I coast 50-75% of the way till the turn. I got in trouble and got pulled to the pit because I was going too slow, hit the brake way too early, brake to let people pass or didn’t let people pass soon enough. I was such in shock when being confronted I felt like I was in time out and left my foot on the brake while being told. (Another fail) The instructor was telling me to WOT, 5th gear consistently and I'm hitting 120-130 and still telling me to keep power but boy was my heart pumping. I didn’t know the limit of my brakes as why I was so nervous. Also had to learn to keep my eyes 40-50 feet in front instead of dead in front of me. The Instructor insisted on giving me a ride when they had instructor time and everything made so much more sense seeing it in action.
Score: 4/4/4

3rd Heat
Pretty confident about the driving line and the works. The mic we had was terrible and couldn’t hear most of the instructor’s tips so he held it off till the end. I was actually pacing a few cars in front of me but they never gave me the point to pass. I ended up pulling to the pit to make some space which kind of felt good. Half way through the heat, I notice the steering wheel would vibrate when braking and gradually got worse to the whole car pulsating when I was braking. I thought my rotors were warped and pulled to the pit for quits. My tips were to learn to shuffle the steering wheel instead of death gripping and to not bang through my gears. Which I didn’t think I was shifting that hard but instructor said I was.
Score: 4/4/4

4th Heat
Drove around the parking lot to test my brakes and felt no vibrations. My theory was if my rotors were that warped then I should feel some shake in the steering wheel which I didn’t. Instructor hops in and I inform him that I might only be doing a few laps to see how my brakes were because of the vibrations. He informed me that the pads were fading and possibly warping at high temps. Eventually the vibrations would go away after it cools down or wears out. Also told him I wasn’t comfortable going 120+ and gave me the option to use 4th gear as my max speed which made me learn confidence on entering the high-speed braking zone and braking when I needed to. Brakes started fading after a couple laps but instructor told me to just brake sooner and just learn the line better. There were a few times where I would ask the instructor if I should let this challenger/Porsche by but he said don’t worry about it since I was pulling on them on the turns. Which I did and got my first pass which felt super amazing!
Score:3/3/3

Overall
It was a great experience, was pretty embarrassed the first session, learned tons to the last session and I am HOOKED but as much as I want to continue back to back track days, its not a cheap hobby. Next track day will be in May and I can’t wait for that.
I’ll be looking to bed in some EBC yellow stuff for the front and upgrading my brake lines to SS braided lines. I noticed that I was still running on my stock pads in the rear and have some red stuff I’ll throw on. Not sure on how much rear pads get utilized on the track but seeing on the forums that trail braking is what causes the rear pads to be utilized? Ill give the Red stuff another run on the front and rears and if I start fading again, ill throw the yellow stuff on in the front and keep the reds in the rear. Also, to install the IAG AOS as well, I noticed there’s some oil resin over my intake and intercooler piping. I still have the set of coilovers sitting around to be installed but I don’t even feel like installing them yet because I still have lots to learn and need to continue research on how stiff is appropriate and what to sacrifice. This track didn’t have too much back to back hard turns to mitigate body roll plus I didn’t push it much to hear my tires squeal each turn so I might just keep it stock for now..

My DAM also dropped to .562 after the 3rd session and fine knock bouncing to 2s, I filled up with some 100 octane and still driving to see if it’ll get back up. I’m hoping for a “Bad tank” of gas that caused that. I brought an extra 5 gallons but the jerry can was such a PITA to dump gas and used a cut water bottle as a funnel. Wiped all the water out before dumping in gas but thinking maybe I didn’t dry it out enough or didn’t clean the jerry can? Definitely going to get a better jerry can for next time.

04/23/19 - 86k/23k wideband o2, p0171, oil dipstick O-Ring, JDM rear brake light

Killer b Oil Dip Stick O-Ring
Killer B oil pan requires their specific O-ring to the dipstick and i believe the shop didn't use their o-ring which the oil was seeping out the the dipstick. I was losing very minimal oil but the pan was covered each time i did an oil change. The install was very easy with just a 10mm holding the dipstick and once you pull it out, it was only about 2 inches that went into the pan. I was expecting one that had the crazy weird bends so that was a very quick fix.

Vacuum Leak p0171 extreme lean conditions
Popped a p2196 and p0171 code and found a vacuum leak from the EWG to the boost solenoid. The crack was right by the turbo and i believe with excessive heat, it caused the hose to harden and vibrations from the engine causing it to crack? Ended up replacing that with a higher resistant hose but probably will look into a turbo blanket. Yet a previous tuner stated not to get a turbo blanket, which makes me ponder...
This also resolved the p0171 code but not the 2196

Wideband o2
Referencing to a few previous posts, my wideband AFR gauge would read 10-11 at cruise till eventually it stopped reading completely. So i replaced the AFR wideband o2 with the Bosch 17025 Oxygen Sensor

Bosch 17025 Oxygen Sensor

This also didn't look that bad but i guess its cooked.

JDM Rear brake light
Finally getting around to installing the JDM Rear brake light i bought from NachosLibres. Super great guy by the way. I might consider making some lines to tap into the parking light and keep it illuminated and brighter when braking but we'll see..

04/26/19 - 86k/23k Installed IAG AOS

Finally getting around to install the IAG Street AOS after having it for over a year.
The instructions from IAG is pretty descriptive but a lot more complicated then it should be.
The instructions had you remove everything first and leaving you in the dark before you get towards the end of the instructions to complete a connection between point A and B. They shouldve had a full picture and illustrate vivid lines from the AOS to the connecting point. I also didn't use all of the provided material but so far seems no leaks. Also people were mentioning to cut little by little on the hose to prevent over cutting which was also a nervous point. Also they have you use the same hose after cutting to connect to and from other points.
Install time took about 4 with pacing ,cleaning and routing the hoses cleanly. Also found lots of oil blow by in the intake and front mount piping.

04/28/19 - 86k/23k p2196 Upstream o2 replaced..again

This isn't a new code but after replacing my AFR wideband sensor that was located one before the rear factory o2 sensor i ended up popping the p2196 code for front o2 stuck rich.
Luckily enough i replaced this upstream o2 recently back in October and thanks to a 1 year warranty i was able to get a replacment without charge. Hopefully this will resolve the issue temporarily but after talking to the tuner they said i possibly have a big vacuum leak or a fuel delivery issue. Before when this code had occurred it would populate with the po171 extreme lean code so im thinking since the car was running lean, the ECU would then push more fuel to compensate which would then cause the upstream o2 in the header to get stuck rich then i would see the wideband o2 run at 11s during cruise.

Have a week left before track day. Yikes
This o2 doesn't look as dirty as i think it should be but who knows...Ill find out tonight after a long drive to work.

After time and months of running into the same CEL intermittently and happens to be ironic hen i find other imperfections/issues that had temporarily band aid the issue till eventually getting consistent.

Hopefully to help anyone in the future to find this thread instead of doing tons of research.

Noticeable readings before receiving the CEL (p0171, p2196)

Readings below as reference to normal vs bad.

Normal readings.
Wideband cruise. 15
Wideband WOT. 11
AF Correction 1. Cruise. Close to 0
AF Learn A -D were either 0-8
AF Sense 1. Cruise 14.
Fuel Pressure Cold start: 50
Fuel Pressure Warm: 43
Feedback Knock, Learn Knock, DAM are normal the first time around.

Bad Readings.
Wideband cruise. 10
Wideband WOT. 11
AF Learn 1. +/- 10 (Typically +/- 8 is okay per COBB)
AF Correction 1 cruise. 25 (either 0 or 25, there’s no in between)
AF Sense 1. Cruise 20

Troubleshooting
When i popped the p0171 and p2196 code last year.
Check fuel pressure at cold and idle
Replaced the front o2 upstream
Tightened all vacuum hoses, intake/intercooler couplers, and clamps
Cleaned the MAF Sensor
Replaced the MAF Sensor (Issue was resolved before track day and was suffice)
Found the CAI coupler had slipped off the inner ring between the turbo inlet (After track day AF Learn was 12+)
Found a crack in the vacuum hose from the EWG to the EBCS
Pressurized Boost Leak test
Replaced front o2 upstream
Replaced MAF sensor
Did the screwdriver method and heard constant pings on all 4 injectors
Pressurized Boost leak test w/ soapy water
Check paper gaskets for leaks
Check pins in pnp injector plug ins
Check leakage on o-rings on fuel injectors
Check brake booster (Found thread of someone with a rusted brake booster cause similar issue)
Check for fuel decontamination
Replaced front o2 upstream for the THIRD times a charm
Switching the injectors around to see if CEL will occur (never got to it)

Though replacing the front o2 was the first thing i did both times and knowing that they're sensitive to damage. Believing that the sensor itself where it goes in the exhaust manifold and the threads to be the fragile part (hearing stories where some would drop accidentally, or bang it up while trying to shove it in) So i made sure of how to handle it. Not to find out that also the very fragile part was the cable casing, but to be specific is what is inside of the casing which i believed that there was little play and the casing to take damage.

The first o2 attempt
When i replaced the first o2, i only noticed the darkness which is rich from the fuel.

The second o2 attempt
The second time i replaced it, the sensor was fairly clean but the top thread caked in fumes but this time i noticed a slight bend between the casing/housing from the stainless steel body of the o2. I raised this question and hear they take beatings all the time and shouldn't be an issue..

Later to find out that's a lie...and also water could easily damage them as well thus the sensors should always be close to point at a 12 o'clock for the water to drain out.

The third o2 attempt
After doing all the troubleshooting steps mentioned above and not wanting to waste anymore time i forked over 170$ in a diag fee to tell me my o2 is bent thus creating the CEL and weird readings on my monitoring tools. To find out my "Beatrush underbelly diffuser" side hole meant for the o2 was not big enough or thought was enough? (About half an inch of clearance)The casing of the o2 would chafe against the panel and due to enough vibrations eventually bent the o2 and breaking the terminal from its connection. Now thinking maybe my engine mounts are going bad since replacing the o2 the first time sufficed for some duration before my first track day.

So i cut the hole slightly bigger to give it more clearance and popped in a third o2. Shop and some mentioned to go "OEM" which i did and bit at 200$ but to find out that its just a Denso....that i could've and did use before. Not even stamped Subaru on it..AT least for that price but no.

Notice where my middle finger is, the bottom casing/housing is slight bent from the main body.

Top being new and bottom old, looks at a slight bent from silver cable connector casing to the stainless steel shell.body..
