Pretty amazing video huh? I was shocked too! Of course this is a JDM Evo so it had the electronic gizmos helping the handling, but the STi will have DCCD. I would venture to say that with the right driver the STi would have similar results with the M3 and 360 on a track..kg said:I downloaded the Evo/ME/360m MPEG, wow! I hope the STi is similar to the EVO, it spanked them badly!!!![]()
Regarding the Supra - I couldn't find any references to 1G by doing a search on google, and my track experience tells me otherwise, but hey, no worries, I am not getting a Supra, only an STi (or a Z06, not decided yet).
woohoo. awesome video. *thanks* for posting this. it is so hard to believe the gta was able to hold off the m3. i would really like to see a second race with the starting grid reversed. the big boys seemed to be stepping over each other most of the race. if the evo could throught he pack in this scenario, then i'd be really impressed. i'm gonna go find s'more cool videos.91TB78 said:Check out www.racingflix.com There is a section called "complilations where in Japan they race a 360 MT, 360 F1 shift, M3 6spd, M3 SMG, Evo GSR, and Evo RS. The 360 MT pulls the quickest lap, but the Evo GSR (read: similar to STi) won by over 2 seconds!
I'm sorry, I know this might be sacriledge to say this on this forum, but AWD does NOT "increase handling" nor does it have ANYTHING to do with the maximum lateral acceleration of a car. It is a function of weight, contact patch, surface, tires, and 50 other variables I'm not going to list...none of which are AWD...sorry, but it's true.yxan2 said:AWD does increase handling so that is one thing the Z06 doesnt have.
I think he was meaning that around corners in a more powerful car, AWD helps to distribute the power evenly, so essentially increasing handling b/c the car is going to be easier to toss around..especially compared to the Z06..which takes a better driver to prevent oversteer.dfauth said:I'm sorry, I know this might be sacriledge to say this on this forum, but AWD does NOT "increase handling" nor does it have ANYTHING to do with the maximum lateral acceleration of a car. To pay homage to the Subaru guys, though, I am considering selling my daily-driver 98 Integra Type R to buy an STi, so Subaru must be doing *something* right.![]()
yes sir, thanks for putting that down on a more understandable level than I did91TB78 said:I think he was meaning that around corners in a more powerful car, AWD helps to distribute the power evenly, so essentially increasing handling b/c the car is going to be easier to toss around..especially compared to the Z06..which takes a better driver to prevent oversteer.dfauth said:I'm sorry, I know this might be sacriledge to say this on this forum, but AWD does NOT "increase handling" nor does it have ANYTHING to do with the maximum lateral acceleration of a car.
