It was a pleasure to meet both Hummer and crazytrain today for a little STi KC get together. We had 3 STis there, my blue/gold, Hummer's silver/silver and crazytrain's black/silver.

It was great to finally get to really talk (not just type) about the STi with others. It's amazing how much more you can talk about in person vs. having to type it all out!

As promised, here are a few vid clips of Hummer's car to give a better idea of the sound of the TXS turbo-back exhaust. These are rather large files (~5mb each), so please right click and DL them to view.

The first one is from inside the car. At first, the passenger side door is open to let you hear it well, and then the door is closed to give an idea of what you'll hear day in, day out.

Second one....this is from behind the car. You get to hear idle as well as unloaded WOT rev up. If you listen close, you can actually hear the turbo 'whining down' as it slows from the WOT burst. Pretty cool!

I hope these don't get hit too hard and kill my bandwidth allowance. I might try to move them over to my RR account...but enjoy for now.

Where did you guys end up meeting? Looks like somewhere out south by the address on the building.

Sorry I couldn't make it. I worked this past weekend and am working next weekend as well :(

There was one positive to working last weekend, I found some incredible roads in mid south Missouri. Nice twisties, etc. little if any chance for coppage, etc. Would be a great little cruising area.

Hayward's BBQ at College and Antioch. I'm sure we'll get together again at some point. When can you meet?

South Missouri has some awesome roads. I went on a camping trip at Sam A. Baker state park about two months ago (south-east). The roads around there were so good that I ended up putting 1000 miles on my truck that weekend just driving around. I had told myself that I would go down there to break in the STi, but I ended up being on-call for three weeks directly after my purchase. I'm going back in late September for sure.

sorry I missed the event, but was out of town.

Be sure to let me know when you guys meet up again and I'll try to be there. Monday-Thurs evenings are best for me.

I'm up to 1300 mi on the STi.

Let's do a mod day in the near future.

I don't have many tools, but I can put four cars in the driveway. I also have a oven{wink, wink for easy bake mod}. Xbox also available with Rallisport challenge. I have not played it much and the WRX seems to get smoked by the Evo VI. I think that I need to unlock more cars.

Hummer,

Mod Day sounds good, especially for people like me who are mechanically challenged. Hell, I can provide the garage ( likely A/C'd prior to the event) and all the food and drinks everyone can handle with plenty of space to boot!

DAMN....party at nkuehn's place! ;)

Yeah...I'll need a mod day here before long. I want to rip into the window switches and figure out how to make them auto-up as well as auto-down. Along with that....I'm going to try doing an alarm install here before long. I just don't trust the monkeys at any of your run-of-the-mill electronics places.

I just have a quick question. I have heard a gazillion car exhausts thru the entire spectrum of engine possibilities over the last few years. I have however never heard an STI's flat 4 with modded exhaust that sounded like that. That sounded like a loud rapid baritone fart. Is that just txs exhaust's note or will all modded STI's sound like that? Peace!!

Any car's sound can be modified by the exhaust. Not all STi's will sound like that. It sounded mean and all, and no offense to Stu, but I want a different sound on mine.

I love the sound of my STi the way it is stock. I would not mind getting a dp but keeping the stock exhaust. That is one thing most people comment on is how they like the sound of the car. I think it is just enough rumble and not too loud or obnoxious. I would not mind keeping the same sound but maybe a tad louder.

I agree with that but with only one change....the way it sounds at idle, I want the whole RPM range to sound like that. Maybe it's just me, but it seems the car has a great deep rumble at idle and just above, but then the exhaust gets lost in the sound of things.

Yeah, that is kind of what I meant. Just make it a little louder.

I don't care so much about sound either, but I do not want to drive around in some obnoxiously loud sounding grass cutter just to get a few extra hp. I was along side a yellow WRX once right after I got my STi. He kept revving and gunning it and it sounded terrible especially with the addition of his loud BOV. It made it sound like the exhaust was making the noise. Probably sounded good to the driver but to everyone else it sounded like arse.

I switched the server around a few weeks ago....maybe they got moved from the correct locations. I'll look into it.
