haha yeah. on top of the ring we also just bought a house, which was incredibly well maintained, but very dated. so we have updated the whole house, new floors, paint, landscaping, light fixtures etc. so that's also taking money haha. although hopefully this summer ill have a wing and splitter and have the car vinyl wrapped.
Thats up next for us too. I'm going to buy an old one for sure since I like to work on it and I'll probably sell it and push the profits into a farm. I want COWS hahahahaha

i just want enough land to shoot on my own property lol. we currently have half an acre. My girl wants chickens.......i dont want to deal with them lololol. but yeah we did most of that work ourselves. which saved money but dang it has taken quite a bit out of us lol, almost done though. then it's back to my car modding haha. you cant really see it in the pics but the paint on the car is flaking, and looks horrible, which is why i want to wrap it so bad.

Just giving you crap. Have you gotten samples of the anthracite? It's a very light color. Even in person/in the sun, the dark gray is very light.
yes i have a sample of it. it's very close to the oem paint actually, just a tad darker. so with that i wont worry about doing all the door jams and such. i think i ordered like 8 different samples when deciding on a color. it was the gloss antricite and gloss glacier grey that were my two favorite.

Hey nice car and workbench, I love pegboard. You seem to be on the forum pretty often and have the autocross experience so I have some really dumb questions:

Do you basically shift to 2nd after the start and leave it in gear (like no clutch at all)? Or would it get bogged down so your exiting corners at like 1500 rpm? I can heal toe at mild street speeds, but guessing that’s pointless here.

Anything you do to keep the engine warm before a run? Or is there anything built into how these are usually setup? (Just paranoid about cold oil because… EJ…)

anything to know about brakes after a run, or are they just not usually getting hot enough? (Where you wouldn’t want them sitting on the rotor)

I can delete this if you don’t want it in your log

You'll be happy to have the box :)

One of the first things I did after my floor was epoxied was buy one. I had a crappy 24" unit with middle and top stacked. It and three carry boxed all had tools overflowing them. Now the good one has only neatly organized automotive tools. Actually they are all organized and I can find stuff.

yeah i'm pumped for it. i still want to epoxy the floors but i did new floors in the house along with a host of other updates...so that'll have to wait for a year or so.

happy to talk about it. you can pm me if youd like to go into more detail.

most courses i launch in first and shift into second and stay there, some are fast enough to hit 3rd, but barely, i think i had one course that i had to shift back into first on one small section. most the time youre good saying in 2nd, the one where i had to downshift is the only one i got down under like 3k rpm. you are cornering faster than you think lol, ive never seen a course that was slow enough to hit 1500rpm in second (granted, ive only done like 8 autocrosses so far)

. i just let the car idle to get warm before a run, you have plenty of time, then you will do your first run, and basically get right back in line for the second one, during that time i'll check the tire pressure, and throw ice on my top mount, that's really about it. the oil stays plenty warm.

autocross isnt particularly hard on brakes, i can get a set of decent pads to last all season without any issue. i'm just running hawk hp+ street pads, no need for full on race pads in an autocross setting.

havent updated in a bit, finally got through the wedding and lately the car has been taking a back seat to that. my wife said some of the hottest words ever to me the other day, which were, and i quote, "use your entire tax refund on your car and get back into racing, because i know you love it"

wooohooo lol. doing my taxes tomorrow with a pro and hopefully will get some back. the hard part now is i'm debating towards swapping the fuel system to run e85, or possibly getting a set of RPF1s and getting the exterior squared away (have a new hood, bumper, diffuser, and a few other small things in the garage already). so we will see what I end up going with. leaning towards getting the wheels and wrapping the car, as I need tires anyway if i'm going to make it to a racing event this year, hopefully I can get to at least 1 HPDE day, maybe an autocross or two.
