Well.... Unfortunately my 1000 mile 14' sti got rear ended... $9000 for repairs. Obviously I wasn't at fault. I got a little whiplash and my chest is aching but overall I'm ok.
Hello iwsti..... I am a new owner lol.

BMW lady got out ok. Hurt a little from the air bags deploying.
Glad to say that cars are replaceable. People aren't.

That is 9k in damage? Holy crap...Thats so sad.
My worst nightmare. I actually was almost hit the first day driving my 14. I was also in a very similar rear end collision in my wife's Prius, also 9k in damage. The damn thing just isn't the same, it leaks water at the hatch seals and stinks in the winter. The rear panel gaps are uneven also so look out for that.
Welcome to IWSTI! I wish you had posted under better conditions, but I'm glad you were ok. :p

Any idea how she managed to hit you? Tailgating, on the phone, trying to cut over to another lane?

I couldn't believe it was 9 k... My loaner is a red mustang convertible... Why......

I hope the trunk on this sedan will be a little easier on the fitment issues.

She ran a red light. She didn't even brake. I'd say 30-40mph. No idea how it happened. Didn't even ask. I was furious. She admitted fault.. So I guess it's ok. Whatever she did, I know she won't do it again.

ugh man that majorly sucks, I would be so pissed! glad everyone got out okay though. Good luck with repairs, really hope it's at a good body shop!!! Welcome to the forum too! wish it were under different circumstances.
I would seek a diminished value claim as well. that accident will follow the car, and it's not a problem now, but will be a consideration when/if you sell it.

... welcome to the forums. sorry about your new car.

Yes Yes Yes...For sure.:busted:
man, that sucks!

and I thought scraping my front bumper within a few months of owning a new STI was bad!

I can really be compensated for this? Should I seek advice from my own insurance company? Or third party

This x1000. Make sure you read this and then read it again. The car is brand new and this damage will absolutely follow you when and if you sell it. Have them do a thorough comb over of the turbo also. The impact could have pushed the downpipe into your turbo and created some issues depending on how hard the hit was. Good luck and glad you're okay.

I will definitely look into this. Thanks again. This shop doesn't specialize in subaruu but I will demand that be looked at

Rest assured this will pass. I know it sucks that it happened to your new car. When we bought my wife's 2011 Impreza, it was rear ended with 800 miles on the odometer. It now has nearly 50k and we don't even think about it anymore. It can and will be made right.

My broken mirror doesn't seem so bad now. Glad you're OK and that really sucks to have a 1000 mile car already in the body shop.
So I just joined the club. My '13 STI hatch got rear-ended at a stop light yesterday (at 980 miles on the odometer). I would say that it is a low-speed love tap comparative to Nate122. From looking at it, I hope it is just a new rear bumper (but I don't know what lies beneath the bumper at this time).

I read up a bit on the diminished value bit, and it appears that while a pain, it is worth pursuing particularly in Nate122's situation. Nate122, sorry to hear your situation and PM me if you want to share intel/lessons learned on this topic.

The question: if it is just a new rear bumper and everything else is good and the collision shop attests (say Subaru for example) to the factory replacement/no frame damage, would you buy this vehicle at a private party price range or would you pass on it and wait for a "no stories" car? I am trying to figure out if I should invest time and effort - not that small claims wouldn't be intellectually entertaining just for the experience.
I feel your pain I had an EvoIX and I got rear ended at 45 mph on the freeway when it came to a stop and my car got totaled T.T But luckily I got paid in full for it and bought a new 2012 STi and joined you fine people! Then 3 months later my coworkers husband backed up into my rear bumper... Tears:'( Fortunately I heated the bumper to get it to pop out and make it unnoticeable and got a free OEM bumper out of it... All this hassle... :domo::wave::domo:
