I was thinking the same thing! Does it require premium fuel? NE1 with a wrx run regular fuel... does the engine knock bad? At 96cents/L $4 gallon the primium costs may encourage me to buy a S4?

Indication of Price Coming soon......

That would be a 100% on the premium fuel!

And I thought the point of not including the stereo standard was to drop the weight of the car enough so that it avoided being a gas guzzler. I'd sure hope they accomplished that, otherwise I think they would have said screw it and put the stereo back in.

Yes on the premium, and it should get about 18-20 City and anywhere from 25-28 highway. This is my guess..so take it for what its worth.
sounds like the evo. no great, not horrible. at least not until gas hits $2.50/gal for 93octane. anyway, i'm glad this thread came up. i've been wondering/worrying about this. maybe i should postpone the sti, at least until this stupid war is over. :(

Wow....I'd consider those numbers high, at least the highway numbers. Reason being....the gearing will be very low even in 6th gear. This means cruising well into turbo spooning speeds.

I'm getting 32-33 HWY in the Celica. I'm expecting 20-24 HWY from the STi....

dunno where those sites were, but here they are listed off of the spec sheet I got from my dealer....

1 - 3.636
2 - 2.375
3 - 1.761
4 - 1.346
5 - 0.971
6 - 0.756

Ya know....looking at those, you are comparing .756 to .738. Guess the USDM gearing isn't quite as extreme as the JDM gearing. [/url]

Hmmm.....I can't seem to find the JDM specs to compare ours to. I was always under the impression that the STi's 6-speed was so close ratio that sixth was still shorter than 5th in the regular WRX 5-speed. I realize .756 is shorter than .738, but that isn't a big enough diff to go crazy over.

Anyone have any input on that?

So SOA did in fact "Americanize" the gearing.

JDM gearing......

1 - 3.636
2 - 2.375
3 - 1.761
4 - 1.346
5 - 1.062
6 - 0.842

Fifth and sixth....very different. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. On one hand....damn you SOA. On the other, how much accelerating will you be doing in 5th and 6th most of the time and thanks for the extra MPG.

Hey Guys, I just noticed this topic and remembered a picture I took at the Toronto international auto show which I though was kinda unless till now.... It's a pic of the spec sheet showing the MPG being 13.4L/100 km City and 9.1L/100km Highway and it meets LEV standards... anyone want to do the conversion to actual MPG ? I thought the specs should be the same for the USDM STi but the octane ratings in Canada are lower so I guess it's just an estimate for you guys. Catch ya lata
