Redmond, WA STi's?

So I am feeling the need for a different car and the STi has caught my eye. I have been researching them on the net. Last week I stopped by Auburn Subaru but they had none. Are there any other reputable dealers out there? I refuse to go to Puyallup Subaru because they wont list any prices on their inventory website. Of course I want to pay as little as possible. Are there any dealers still selling below invoice after the new year? How much did you pay for your STi? Is there a holdback on the STi and if so what is it?

I currently drive a 2000 Toyota RAV4 with a stereo system from Innovative Audio. I am uncertain whether I want to trade it in or sell it. I'd like to take the stereo with me as I wont get anything near I paid for it by either selling the car or trading it in. It will probably cost a goodly amount of money to have Innovative Audio install it in a STi. Personally I am not up to the task and feel they can do a cleaner job than I could. Darn these logistical nightmares. Which dealer offers the best trade-in values?

Thanks for any responses.

I bought mine from Chaplin's Subaru in Bellevue a few months back and they were MSRP. Chances are you could do some wheeling and dealing now, and they always have a couple of STi's on the lot. Man, I know the IA system probably set you back some good coin, but they do some freaking righteous work.

I heard Carter's has 10 STi for sale. Supposedly "special pricing" too. One of my friends looked at a VW there and said they were the highest priced he had ever seen. I guess I have to call Joe Spitz and see what is up with the prices. I was hoping someone on here had some insight on what kind of "special" the were running.

I've been going to IA since '97 when they installed the first version of my system in my 1997 RAV4 (RIP). Insurance wouldn't pay to move the system so I had to pay for that. My insurance company let me take the components and custom stuff out which was good. I think I have dropped approx $20K there since 1997. That is not how much the system is worth though. I kinda asked them about if they had done a STi and they hadn't. I did hear that a custom fiberglass sub enclosure from them would run $1200. For some reason whenever they install a system for me it is always around $5k.

I just want to minimize my upfront costs. There will be a lot of things that I will need to buy in addition to the car.

all-season wheels/tires
radar/laser detector
window tint
alarm
stereo system

Yeah, I've been driving the last one they had on the lot as of last Friday.. hehehe.

Auburn Subaru gave me a good deal on my STi... I paid about $1000 over invoice (with options it was like $30,360 I think). I traded in my '02 2.5RS with 37k miles, and they gave me $12.5K for it (bluebook on it for trade was $11.7k). I'm pretty happy with the deal.

Chaplain's was advertising $49 over invoice on all Subarus... I personally don't care for that dealer, though.

I don't think you're gonna get a better trade from one dealer versus the other, and you'd probably end up on the better if you sold the vehicle on your own. Of course that would take longer and mean waiting longer to get a STi.

If you have the factory system to put back in your RAV4, you'll get a little more money out of it.

ughh!!!

I dunno what to do with my car. I hear the used car market is kinda slow right now so I don't know how long it would be on the market. If I trade it in I get a tax advantage. If I sell it I can get more money and use some of it for accessories for the STi. I want a STi in Java Black Pearl which seems to be kinda rare in the area. Another thing is that having the stereo removed from my car will be a PITA. It took me 2 days to remove it from my first RAV4 and this time I would have to be more careful since I would be selling a working vehicle. I am probably "what iffing" this thing too much.

How cold is it!!!!!

I bought mine from Joe Spitz and it was a very good experience. I paid MSRP and I'd buy from him again in an instant.

Hrmmm....

Auburn Subaru is saying they can probably do pretty close to invoice.

It's a good time of year to sell my car, but not a good time of year if I want to keep it pretty for sale. I dinged a rim and knocked a wheel out of alignment on tuesday. I got it aligned on wednsday but I am hearing some kind of rubbing sound. I can already see this is going to be expensive.

I highly reccommend Joe Spitz at Carter Subaru. They have 9 STIs on the lot at that is all they will have until June 2004 when new allotments begin to ship (they had 10 until Sunday Jan 11 when I drove away). Joe is very fair and informative, not pushy at all. He will deal with you, but he is not going to spilt hairs. If you respect that he needs to make a living just like you, I think you will find the price very acceptable. Carter Subaru is premier dealer, very organized, well staffed. You feel like your on an assembly line as you are passed from specialist to specialist. Very professional.

I would also have to plug Joe @ Carter. . .

Got my STi from him. . . easiest car purchase I've ever experienced.

Joe (PaX) and his wife just got their 2004 WRX wagon from him last weekend. Again, nothing but a laid-back experience and no bull to deal with. :)

Got my Silver/Silver below invoice in CO!!!!

I test drove a STi at Chaplin's today. Very nice. They didn't tell me how to shift into reverse though. The salesman at Chaplin's got defensive when I mentioned "invoice" and "holdback". They of course also gave me a lowball price on my car if I traded it in. It doesn't sound like I will be dealing with them. Auburn Subaru did not flinch when I mentioned those two words to them. I haven't talked to Joe at Carter yet.

I also found out that insurance on the STi has gone up by about $200 since I last checked. So now I would be paying $400 over what I am paying now.

Anyone know of a good junkyard in the south end where I can get some interior panels to replace the cut ones in my RAV4?

Joe @ Carter was amazing to deal with, It was THE BEST car buying experience I have ever had. I didn't get top dollar for my trade in eather, BUT I was also in a Car accident that cost my inshureance 8,200.00 bucks in repairs. So I look at it this way. TRY and sell a wrecked Civic Si OR Trade it in. I have Drove the Sti and I love it. The Wagon has more Utility for us and insureance is more practical. BUY THE STI NOW.

Ok.

I see a lot of people who are saying Joe @ Carter is the best. What was the price you paid for the STi without trade?
