?? okay i'll bite. where would you get the sti engine in the first place? couldn't you get the diffs from the same source as the engine? why wouldn't you just buy an sti, or trade the my04wrx?? i don't think you can purchase just the front diff anyway. (aren't the front and center diffs in one unit??) i'm nonplussed.

STi Insurance Rehash

I am thinking that the STi engine and drivetrain would cost probably over 10G's. And that is from a junkyard...

So:

2.5RS 20K
Engine, etc 10K

Which adds to 30K (not including any installation). If the STi comes over at thirty two, that extra two would be good for a warranty, etc.

Just get an STi if you are really thinking of this, something tells me you will save money in the long and in many ways the short run...

How to contact...

Your best bet is to get the rear diff out of the same car. The center and front diff are integrated into the transmission. You will also want the driveshaft and probably the axles, as they are different. And locate a good fabrication shop, since from what I've found, nothing is a direct bolt-on for this swap. I almost picked up a JDM Legacy twin-turbo for a similar project, but have too many things going on right now. Maybe in a few years.

Good luck!

The Frankensteins are fast... we have one in town. they guy got a sti 4 from the UK... he had a hell of a time with the electrical... If you're willing to pu tthe time in for research and labour you may save a few bucks.... or drop more then a new one... it's a gamble.... the other problem is did the previous owner drive the crap out of the engine. 10K for a Flat engine sucks.
