That's funny that you would come on this board and admit that you paid over sticker when you have infact just screwed alot of people that are trying to get one at MSRP. The more people that pay over sticker the longer they are going to mark it up.

I didn't pay over sticker and never would have. They are making enough money by me just paying sticker. I agree with Neisius. We can have all the dealer boycott lists we want but if people are willing to pay markup then they do no good.

Someone posted that the dealers "banded together" to charge over sticker. I just spoke with an individual at Norm Reeves Subaru who said something along the lines of "... the other dealers would get mad if I didn't sell the car over sticker". Honestly, if I had the cash to blow I would pay the mark-up, but I don't so I won't. And to those that are holding out, that's your prerogative (I'm doing the same thing). Along with the ones paying the premium. But try not to hold it against those willing to lay down the cash. NO Peace! j/k :D

I was viewing another board tonight. The guys who live in California have it rough. Every story was about $5k to $9k over MSRP for the STI. Now one of the things that I found the most interesting was the fact that the dealers were getting as many as they were. One guy said his dealer was getting 10 while another said his was getting 19. The shame of it for the guys above was if they had buy orders and were led to believe they were going to pay MSRP and then found out that they had to pay another four or five grand to get their cars. Hey you guys==order from Murley, or come east and just use the money you saved for a train or bus ticket. Then you can have a hell of a ride home. Sure will reduce your break-in period for the car! Put a 1000 miles on in no time! SFRinNJ

Well, if the dealers lied about MSRP agreements they could just as easily lie about the number of cars they're getting in order to sucker people into their dealership.
I say, too, that they should all just order from Murley, b/c he's honest, right?

It is good that you did not per say give over MSRP money to the dealer. But on the other hand you are paying over MSRP if you add up travel expenses and your time. So if one is paying like $500-1000 over MSRP it may be equivalent of the the expenses of getting the car out of state. It depends.

Of course it would be fun driving it home. :)

cheers

Yeah but at least you have the satisfaction of knowing you didn't pay it to the dealer. It may be a small consolation but at least its there. And you will have fun driving it home. It'll be broken in and ready to get beat on. :D

spoke to alot of dealers here in Canada, not one quoted over msrp, they try and upsell other options, interior scotchgard and undercoating, most say they dont want the bad customer relationship that builds with overcharging the people who support them, : I;ve got mine ,paid msrp and was very satisfied doing so,my dealer was Subaru city,

I have my car on order at one dealer for MSRP. The other local dealer is charging $5000 over MSRP. They happen to have two in stock... unsold. Go figure. I'll wait the extra month or two to save five grand.
