i know 6.5s are oval shaped, 5.25s are circular shape, from what i see from the subaru accessories , they are all circular shapes, so i think the door panels will only allow 5.25s, but some of you guys say it'll take 6.5"s which confuse me, because there must be a few holes there so u can screw into and if it fits a 5.25, how can it fit a 6.5?
confuses me a lot

can someone let me know the easiest speaker fitment so i take out the door, screw in the speaker, and plug it in with the stock harness
thankss

also u guys mention components on the front, and coaxials in the rear, i know components require more power than coaxials, and most probably if u don't have an amp, the components won't give out any sound.
or is there a crossover in the car already that lets u plug in the tweeter and plug in the woofer at the bottom?

i'm thinking in getting coaxails 5.25s all around and 1" tweeter just to plug into the hanging tweeter harness next to the door latch grill. so i can make use of everything.

but then the tweeter needs to be attached to that metal bar which only subaru has and they are selling 2 1" tweeters for $90. sigh, i dunno what to do, i'm new and please give me advice :)

wrc graphics for your sti?

Its true, you can fit a 5.25" or 6.5" woofers in the opening. The critical thing is, the mounting depth, not the opening size. Any speaker other than factory will require the use of a spacer plate to mount the speakers. The most common size spacer is 1/2". If you just want a drop in speaker that requires no mods, you will need to purchase a factory speaker for the front and rear. Components do require more power, but you can get away with powering them with the deck. I am powering my Diamond Audio M651's with my deck and they sound good enough for me. You don't need to buy the factory tweeter bracket from Subaru. You can make your own out of 1/16" aluminum. Look at this thread and you can see the tweeter mounting bracket. Plus, search the forums, there is a ton of information regarding speaker sizes.

nope. the 6 1/2's were very deep. we used 3/4" spacer, it cleared the window mount screw by 1/8 of an inch.

they were Boston Z6's i think they were 2.7" deep.

and 6 1/2's do fit in the rear if you know what youre doing.

install time including Dynamating all 4 doors and mounting 4 speakers (seperates)

2-3 hours. ;)
