Hub and lug centric

I was doing some research on my 4Runner tires, and they mentioned stuff about Hub centric and Lug centric. What exactly does this mean? Which is better? Do all shops know about this?

The problem with the 4Runner wheels as well as other lug centric wheels is that most tire balancing equipment is hub centric. This can cause balancing issues with lug centric wheels.

This is usually why the topic of hub centric and lug centric come up with 4Runner wheels. I have a Tacoma which is simular.
