im sure I will love the car, which is why Im hoping and praying this won't happen. Either way I know it can be fixed, but its just a downer for what looks to be such a perfect car. Also thanks for all the info everyone and is there a way to locate sunoco gas stations as I have never even heard of one. Best I can do is BP/Amoco 93 octane as recommended or use a toulene/race fuel mix with 93. Thanks!StuBrown said:StaticX313 - I understand your concern about the detonation issues that have been reported and your desire to avoid any engine damage due to that. BUT. Wait till you get your car. I picked up my STi 3 weeks ago and purchased approx. 12 gals. of 100 octane prior to pickup to get my octane rating up to 95-96 via mixing it w/94. Both my salesperson and svc manager recommended against it and advised either 93 or 94. Long story short - I have 2200 miles on my 3.5 week old STi, have been running Sunoco 94 religiously, and have NO PING thru the 4-4.5 RPM mark in any gear thus far. Best of luck with the car - you will love it!
