Radar and Laser Detecting ONLY:
If you look at the most recent (2003) SML independent tests, the new Beltronics Pro RX65 (dash mount) and RX75 (remote mount) beat out both the former top dogs: Valentine and Escort.

Find the Pro RX65 or 75 on Sounddomain.com.

Radar Detecting and Jamming:
Today I spoke w/ the manufacturer of the old Phantom XP and Scorpian radar jammers (the only active radar jammers in the US). There units were independently test to successfully detected and jam all bands (except superwide Ka)-BUMMER!

But... they have just developed a new Scorpion Ultimate, to be released in 2 weeks, that detects and jams all bands . They expect the independant SML tests to be finished by year end, and are offering pre-ordering w/ a 100% refund if they fail to jam any band.

The only downside is price: $1,000 pre-order, $1200 mass-release.

But, it detects and jams, and is a remote mount unit (no cord), and is harder to see (for cops and robbers)!

Laser/Lidar ONLY Detecting and Jamming:
The new Blinder M-20 (remote mount active lidar/lasar jammer), was recently independently tested to successfully jam all lasar/lidar at any range >50ft.. Cost: $350

Total invisible package: (Scorpian Ultimate and BLinder M-20) Cost: $1275(preorder), $1475 (anytime next year).

I will be preordering the Total Invisible package.

If you want to contact Scorpian about the upcoming radar detector/jammers, they can be found at www.scorpionjammers.com.

I have update the prices, as Lance @ Scorpian has offered a small package discount.

sounds good for RF, but how does this thing plan on jamming a laser?
It doesn't. THere is not single unit that works both on radar and laser.

But there is a separate unit: Blinder M-20/30/40. There is also the Escort ZR3. Both have been proven to effectively jam all laser gun signals on the market.

The way they work is basically the same as the radar signals, by emitting laser noise into the return signal.

Here is a website that has some details of how radar and laser guns work, as well as how the jammers counteract them.

thanks for the interesting read. Seems like it only works if the laser gun is aimed at the area where the "jammer" is located which makes sense for this type of system. it would be interesting to know what wattage the laser jammer works in though.

Supposedly, from other articles I've read the lights and license plate are always the targets. And each (of 2) laser sensors have about 19-24" field of coverage. So, if you have a normal size car and mount one near each headlight, you'll easily cover your license plate and headlight for hits.

Here is another, which has 2002 models in it.

The ZR3 scored really well, but doesn't work under 250ft. The old BLinder M-10 couldn't jam a couple of the lasers. But, supposedly, the new M-20, jams all guns, at all distances down to 50ft.

I'll let everyone know how they work once I get them installed.

Good luck with it. Maybe someone will come out with a laser jamming pod to put up on the roof or something! :p

If they could just make our cars clear or invisible like Wonder Woman's plane, we wouldn't have to ponder all this. :)

Radar jammers do not work.
Passive jammers do not work, active jammers do. These are all active, noise-signal sending jammers.
Yeah in theory they do but you show me proof where these work. Not info on the manufacturer's website and not against only 1 or 2 radar guns in a setup, controlled environment. Now I have heard of some of the laser ones working but none of the radar ones do. If these really did work the FCC would be all over them. Go ahead and buy one if you want and let us know. I am just trying to warn people before they waste their money like I did.

if they do actually work i really need to get one, i can already smell more tickets coming, already got one for 186$, would only take a couple of those to pay for the system if it actually worked. i guess they could always say that they paced you though and give you a ticket anyways.

its all fine and dandy untill you ask the copper to see your speed on his gun. his reply "i turned it off you wont be able to see it" ok... whatever... still have to waste time and money trying to fight it. thats happened to me and others. they can say whatever they please. the burden still falls on you to haggle it out in court. dont know the answer.

Active Radar Jammers do work, some better than others. Most of them dont do anything and are a huge waste of money. I have seen some that work under certain conditions. I havent heard of any that work under virtually all real-world conditions, but I dont doubt that its possible for a price. They are highly illegal. You can be fined up to $75,000 for using one. They are under jurisdiction of FCC because they broadcast signals on restricted frequencies.

Laser Jammers do work, some work very well. They are completely legal. They are under the jurisdiction of the Food and Drug Administration. The Escort ZR3 works up to more than 250ft on most cases, it depends on the vehicle. It can work up to 20 ft on some vehicles. The 250ft figure is only on 1 make of laser I think and it is on something like a chevy suburban. I dont know anything about the new Blinder, sounds neat. Id like to see test results.
