So i was under the car and noticed excessive grease on the accordion part of the axle. Right next to wear my dump tube is on my Grimspeed 38mm EWG uppipe is. Coincidentally ive been getting the clicking/ticking noise from the same side coming from the wheel area. I will post pics when i can but in the mean time what can be done? Does the whole axle needa be replaced because of this? Would this be covered under warrenty or would subaru predictivly blaime it on the dumptube? Thnx

Umm maybe 200 for the axle, 1hr to swap it out ($100) and for the exhaust...i dont know if it needs work or not, not sure if its causing your axle to over-heat or your axle failed on its own
Even its due to the dump tube location not sure of the best solution as I just have a vf39 on my car:lol:

If you are hearing a clicking tapping sound already the axle is on its way out. I would not drive on it any longer than I had too, and have it looked at immediately. It sounds like the boot is ripped and the grease is just shooting out the boot during driving, and if she goes dry you will have some bigger problems. Now for the dump tube, it is way too close to your axle and you must have it routed away from the boot. It must have cooked the boot and made it split with the excessive heat that the exhaust throws off. Right now you might just be looking at a boot replacement which is fairly cheap, but any more wear on the axle you will be getting deeper in that pocket... alot deeper! Good luck!

Looking at the pic there is no grease between the ribs were boots normally tear. I'd say the dumptube is cookin the boot right around the strap.

As already stated... once it starts clicking the axle is toast so look for a new or used one if your on a tight budget.

If its a 38mm vband just rotate the dumptube... if its a fixed flange you will need the tube modified.
