I've heard this now from two Portland dealers. According to my source, this is direct from the regional manager. The top 500 WRX dealers will each get 1 STi. Pretty scary stuff. I sure as hell hope, if this is true, they honor my #1 spot on the waiting list as getting first dibs on it.

If that is true, then "it will most defnitely be sold way over MSRP" according to the dealer where I have my waiting list.

We need to get to a system where car companies sell direct to the public, eliminating the scum-sucking middlemen.

They said they were only going to manufacture 10,000 WRX's. They are closer to 20,000 now.

The market will dictate. They WILL produce more. I will not pay one cent over MSRP. Get your name on a list, but stay firm with price. You will regret it if you give in and pay thousands more than MSRP.

I have been told by NUMEROUS sources the number will be 1600-1700. I am betting on this. At no time have I heard less than that from a source that I trust.

I so so so so hope you're right, JJ. I think that 500 would just be totally stupid of Subaru as I'm sure they'd have no trouble selling 2 or 3 times as many.

It depends, if they plan on listing the car for 35K then 500 is a good idea because I dont know about everyone else but the STI is an awesome car but 35-40K is way too much for it.

I wouldn't freak out over it until Subaru confirms the STi. Also, if the dealers decide to try to rape you on the price, threaten that you will go and buy an Evo and they might come down on the price.
