Has anyone installed this (Part# h001sva801) on their 2015+ STI? I checked on the Subaru website and it says this is compatible with my 2017 STI Limited w/ push button. I just called the dealership and they said they wont install it due to safety reasons.

It's in the mail and really wanted this function on my car. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ya and it will void warranty if installed. I learned the hard way before doing research. Good news for someone else though, I have it up for sale if you want this part for your car!

I had a friend ask about the CVT trans cooler that come on the JDM WRX that the USDM don't get, and the dealership said it would void the warranty on the transmission.

So so stupid

You should find a new dealership.

They can't void your entire warranty because you installed a part. They'll try their hardest to not honor the warranty if an issue arises on a system that's related to that part (ie electrical or transmission in these cases). But it's their responsibility to prove that the part caused the failure. It would certainly be a hassle for you to argue with them to have it covered.

Even though you're installing an OEM part, the part itself isn't covered under the warranty since it didn't originally come on your vehicle. For example, if you installed newer 6 piston Brembo's on an older STI they wouldn't be covered under the warranty.

Keep in mind that remote start doesn't come factory on any car with a manual transmission. The reason being is that you would have to bypass the clutch switch and ensure that you always leave your vehicle in neutral when parked. If you leave the car in neutral you're relying solely on the parking brake to keep the car from rolling. If you leave the car in gear and try to start it remotely (without the clutch depressed) the car will stall and possibly lurch forwards. This is why it's a safety issue.
