Re: Gvfs' 2008 OBP GRB

How do you like the Whiteline steering rack bushings? Did they make much of a difference?
I do like them. They make somewhat of a difference, but they will not revolutionize your steering. It was far too simple of a mod not to do it, though.

My steering wheel did end up about five degrees off of center as a result of the mod-- without me having misaligned the splines and u-joints. The dealer confirmed this when I had it re-centered. (I had marked the shaft before loosening the column bolts.)

Partially debadged hatch.

On a whim I removed the alphabet from the hatch. It took about 20 minutes to remove all the letters on an 80F day with partial sun and no additional heat. Removing the remainder of the foam tape and the adhesive took about 40 minutes. I did the following:
  1. Washed hatch
  2. Removed letters
  3. Rolled off as much foam tape and adhesive as possible by hand
  4. Added Goo Gone and rubbed remaining adhesive off
  5. Washed surface again and dried it
  6. Claybarred surface
  7. Washed surface again and dried it
  8. Waxed surface
It's no surprise that with five-year-old paint ghosting is significant. I will have to strip the wax off of it and work on it more.
