Re: Grafton's 07 STi GR Intercooler

GR intercooler bracket is here:

I didn't feel like trying to fight with the lower end of the bracket where it would bolt to the TGV's

GR intercooler installed

Spliter fitment:

Going to have to do some work on the spliter to get the most out of the bigger intercooler.

Re: Grafton's 07 STi GR Intercooler

Friend of mine picked up a NA long block, and gave me a light weight pulley that was on it

Finally got the inter-cooler stencil,
prepped the engine bay

Stencil applied

Painting, 3 coats of high temp red caliper paint

End result:

Going on the rollers at EFI Logics this Saturday!

Re: Grafton's 07 STi ProTune

The big day finally came, got the car up to EFI Logics for a protune by Calvin Dotson of Dotson Tuning.

Got the car all strapped down

baseline pull:
EFI Logics baseline pull - YouTube

Results

Before Protune
265 WHP & 284 WTRQ with some knock in the high rpms
After
275 WHP (+10) & 313 WTRQ (+29)
Knock free and stable AFR

I've very happy with the way the car is running, much more stable than the bro-tune I had done to get the car "ok" with all the mods it had done.

Re: Grafton's 07 STi ProTune

Burnt out my CB on the 48 HRS of Tristate drive, time to upgrade from the masking tape mount. Ordered a Cobra WX ST II CB and a JVC digital reciever.

Wiring mess, ran a coax extention from the CB to the trunk under the carpet.

CB and new head unit installed. Had to enlarge one of the ISO/DIN mounting holes to get the cb perfectly lined up, then trim the radio bezel to fit the width of the CB

Mic installed and wires for AFR gauge cleaned up

Getting the car prepped for seeing some of the stages of the New England Forest Rally this summer.

3/16" Thick skid plate from Primitive Racing

The 1/4" thick mini rear diff protector from Primitive

Installed

It clears the fumoto valve

The important part, sticker installed

Last update on my 07 In may the car overheated on a road trip, after getting the car home, tested the coolant and it came back positive for hydrocarbons. Decided to fix the headgaskets and throw a set of studs in the car to help hold it together.

After fighting the stupid cam bolts and drilling them out...
found a show stopper:

# 4 has a nice crack running down the thin part of the cylinder wall.

Threw everything back together, and then ran into other problems, while removing the intake manifold I strained the Knock sensor connection. After replacing the knock sensor, and the code not going away I realized it was a harness issue.

I was looking at a new engine build plus a harness, on top of anything else that i'd get into.

Fixed the problem with a new 2019 WRX:

Now the driveway look like this:

Soon the white car will be traded in for a new STi and the better half will get the WRX as a hand me down.

Damn sucks about the show stopper! Congrats on the '19 WRX.
