Ok, last weekend, I performed what I thought would have been the easiest install of my life; The Fumoto Oil Drain Valve. I got it and was really impressed with the build of the valve itself. I changed my oil on Sunday and installed the Fumoto Drain Valve with the supplied washer. I noticed a small puddle of oil under my car the following Thursday. I got under there to find this:
Needless to say, I'm alarmed. The washer is causing a veeerry sloooow leak and i just put ~$30-worth of Mobil1 in her last week. Question is, what do you guys think I should do? I could:
1. Unscrew it and try to plug it with my finger (mechanix gloves on, of course), while replacing the washer that came with the valve with the normal Subaru Crusher Ring? What a mess that would be! (but I think it's my best option, so far) or...
2. I could just put the normal Subie Drain Bolt & Subie Crusher Ring back on and be done with the Fumoto Drain Valve? or...
3. I could tighten this down even further in an effort to squeeze out the gap in the washer?
I contacted the Fumoto support dude and he told me that I didn't install it correctly, even though, I'm pretty sure I didn't over-tighten it. He told me NOT to use the Subaru Crusher Ring and only to use the washer that's supplied with the valve, but I've seen a lot of other people on the forums using their Subaru Crusher Rings... Any thoughts on this?
Any other ideas? What a PAIN IN THE ASS!!!!!!! TIA!
