Need help in diagnosing a new noise that started in the front-end of my 2007 STI. I can't seem to pinpoint where the noise is coming from, but I am hoping that someone might have had a similar issue in the past.
The noise only seems to appear when I let off the gas pedal at about 3k-5k rpms. I can hear it best while driving close to jersey barriers or within a confined space (garage) with the windows open. The noise sounds like a little squirrel, really. It doesn't come out when I am pressing the gas though.
I have a Cobb DP+TBE on a custom tune. Stock intake. APS recirculation valve. I also have Defi-Link EGT, turbo boost, and oil pressure gauges. The EGT was tapped into the driver's side lower manifold.
I've read similar threads, so I'm thinking it might be the following:
1. Manifold leaking through the EGT gauge tap where the sensor is bolted in. (But I do not seem to have any reduced performance or turbo bogging down.)
2. A/C or idler pulley. (I did recently replace the alternator assembly, A/C belt, and power steering belt.)
Thoughts? Experiences?
