Anyone else notice that we're seeing that silver WRX commercial a lot more frequently now, and its actually not just on speedtv rally coverage. I saw it last night on The Tonight Show, and this morning on Good Morning America. Those are probably pricey ad slots too. Any thoughts on this? Perhaps Subaru is trying to liquidate their stock of current WRX models to make room for the new ones?

It really does, IMO, the radar love commercial came across with the "fun" aspect, but really played down the performance, the commercial almost felt kind of boring....I'd like to see some action shots in an STI commercial....just my opinion though....

I would like to see a bad ass STi commercial during the Super Bowl. It would be cool if I was driving it too and there were a lot of action shots in a James Bond kind of way with all these hot chicks in it with me or something like that. Actually the rally car ad was cool, where they would show the car drifting around the corner and switch back and forth between the rally car and the WRX. Something kind of like that but more hardcore. No chessy songs or kids please.

How about a middle aged mom in a modified STi. She has 4 kids dressed in soccer gear with her and groceries in the trunk. She pulls up to the stoplight next to a couple of kids in a camaro. At the green light a street race ensues and the STi walks away.

STi @ LA Auto Show?

How about an STi racing around a mountain road, and then the paint peels off (kinda like in that Maxima commercial) and reveals a rally car underneath...or a split second flash here and there of the wrc car superimposed on the STi as it tackles those curves, ala that Mazda commercial (I think that's what it was). And they show a driver and also do those split second flashes where you see Petter Solberg or some other rally driver with a helmet...

Hmmm...I can't decide what would be a good song for the soundtrack though...what about Paul Oakenfold's "Ready Steady Go"?

Nah wait...Where the Streets have no Name by U2

my bad...I had seen that 3 min video of 2 STi's...a regular one and one with Prodrive...didn't know there was a commercial that I suggested...

On another note...anyone notice that link to that autospeed article about a twin-turbo WRX?

I don't know if anyone else has seen it on this board yet, it may be redundant for me to post this note, but I downloaded a subaru commercial for the new sti, facelifted headlights, big hoodscoop and all. I have a feeling it will be pretty similar to the commercial we'd see here in north america....it features a couple of sweeping angle shots of the new facelift, and some track footage of the new sti sedan and wagon, as well as a little bit of rally cut ins....anyone else seen this one yet? If not, how do I upload it for you guys....IMO, its not too bad a commercial at that...no bratty kids, no cheezy music.

:D

Yup, that's the one alfredob1, thanks for grabbin the link. I tend to like the beginning part of the commercial more than the track stuff, but I've always been an action junky.

haha see? they did do a flash of the WRC car.

Anyway, I did think the music is a little cheesy. Anyone think it's familiar? I know you SoCal ppl who watch Laker games on KCAL know what I'm talking about...I kept hearing Stu Lanz and Chick Hearn (God bless his soul) announcing Laker scores on KCAL as the station goes to commercial during a timeout or at halftime...and esp. Stu's voice saying "you're watching the Lakers on the Lakers...basketball network"
