FP RED question about turbo inlet

4340 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  kakarot09
FP advertises on the website that it uses the 84mm, but I thought it was a 3'' ?

My understanding was it was either a 2.4 or 3''

Does the 84mm red use a 3'' turbo inlet?

I am sooo confused

Also can I use my stock turbo inlet and do a 2.4 to 3'' adapter? I know it's not ideal , but is it possible?

The turbos Forced Performance has that use the 84mm inlet only work with the FP 84mm inlet. They won't work with other brands. And it might be possible to use an adapter but good luck. It's bad enough fitting the thing in there the way it was designed to be done. Trying to mess with an adapter and cutting an inlet just right etc... Well lets just say you should video the process and send it to America's funniest home videos lol. Just buy the correct inlet for the turbo. It still may need trimmed a little bit, the one I installed did.

Talked with a rep at FP today, and they said the newer FP red use the 84mm.... The older one ( one which I have from 2010) uses the 3inch inlet.
For the 3 inch versions you can use whichever brand/style you want. I don't know why FP calls the new red a "red" it has absolutely nothing in common with the old red. Should have called it a blue or something.
