Initial thoughts on the Kartboy short shifter - I'm loving it! I had it installed in my 06 STi, but this time it's paired with the factory short shifter so the throw is a lot shorter.

My only concerns are that the lever sits a little forward even in neutral. You can see this in the pictures above. Also the reverse lockout rattles because the Kartboy short shifter doesn't have that thick rubber section like the factory lever does, but this is expected.

This is my second shift knob and first reverse lockout from WC Lathe Werks and they are incredibly made. I highly recommend them to anyone looking to swap out the factory knob.

There's a big difference between the VA and GD driving positions just because the GD is a lot smaller than the VA. Between the two, the GD feels like a go kart, at least to me since I had so many suspension and steering mods. Obviously the VA has a stiffer chassis, and when I do the same modifications, it will be superior.

If you're looking for bare bones and raw input and output, the GD is the way to go. I like the "luxuries" that come with the VA though. The one thing that I just can't get used to and absolutely hate is that the VA pedals are so spongy. The clutch is extremely light and the gas pedal has about an inch of free play before the throttle kicks in on S#. I'll have to live with it though.

Thanks! :D

how many miles did you get on your 06? i love that you kept it at stage 2 for so long. i was not able to do that with my 07. i think that is the sweet spot for the sti.
I got the 06 in 2009 with just under 23k miles and I sold it with over 58k miles. I had it at stage 2 for around 32k? miles and never had any engine problems. The only reason I stopped at stage 2 was because of smog. I didn't feel like having to revert back some labor intensive mods every other year. I think I might change my mind this time around since I have 6 years before I have to smog ;)

I recently installed the SuperPro Understeer Eliminator kit from Cygnus Performance. It includes:
  • Front and rear end links
  • Front and rear sway bar bushings
  • Rear sway bar mount braces
  • Rear sway bar - I chose 24 mm
I have the rear sway bar set to the middle setting (24mm) and it really helps even out the car. My body roll had reduce by a lot. This is definitely a recommended mod if you want to have more confidence your car's handling.

I just had the same exact setup installed last week and I love it! Car feels a lot more planted and solid (not sure if right word to describe it). Very nice!

I decided to get coilovers so I spoke with Geoff at Cygnus Performance about what I wanted. We ended up with Cygnus Performance Gen 2 X-1's. They are a collaboration between Cygnus and Fortune Auto. I also added the locking spring perches with Swift springs 8k front and rear. Since I was lowering the car, I added the SuperPro roll center kit (tie rod ends and front ball joints). I also purchased SuperPro Lower Control Arms, rear trailing arm bushings (front and rear), and rear upper control arm bushings.

I've only installed the coilovers and the roll center kit and I haven't installed the bushings yet.

First Impressions: These coilovers are top notch quality! It was almost difficult to install them on my car because they are so nice to look at. They are incredible for daily driving because they are stiff when cornering aggressively, but are able to absorb good size bumps and dips that feels pretty close to stock. The SuperPro LCAs, tie rod ends, ball joints, and bushings are also top notch quality.

I'm extremely satisfied with my purchases and highly recommend these coilovers and pretty much any SuperPro products. I already have quite a lot of SuperPro suspension products and they are really high quality. My suspension is currently set up perfectly for my needs and I can't wait to get the bushings installed. Check out the installed pictures below.
