2004 N.A. STi vs. 22B vs. P1

The STI sure has more horses than the Evo, but I personally think that the Evo looks much better that the Sti. The STI looks like a typical car, but the Evo looks like a machine! Don't get me wrong, the STI has always been my dream car, but the Evo VIII I dunno  .... What you guys think? :D

Actually, I think exactly the opposite. I see the mean rally presence in the look of the STi, while the EVO has the typical Mitsu look, only with a "I'm on steriods" smile in the front. And euros.....ugh....

The interior of the EVO really turns me off as well. It looks like a typical $12k Lancer. I know the STi interior isn't BMW-looking, but at least it's different from the WRX and base Imprezas.

And if my opinion is worth the crap that I just flushed down the toilet... I Really like the New scoop on the STi. It's HUGE! I think that it adds a lot of that "I'm gonna pee down your intake" look!

Then you've got the new hood and lights that I think gives the front end a "thicker" look. As for the lack of fog lights..., a good move in my opinion.

......, oh yeah, then it says "Subaru". That alone is worth it all! Ya just can't beat a Subie!!!

Hey Rob! I think that there might not be any fogs back there. The reason why is because on a few different occations I've sold RS's or TS's to some of my customers that wanted to take out the covers that were there and install Subaru fogs in their place. What Subaru told my tech was that they would have to run an entirely new harness through the whole front end in order to install the lights. They also said that they have had liability problems with having fog lights and covers on the same vehicle. Evidently some moron turned on his fog's and ended up melting the piss out of the whole front bumper because of the heat!

Anyway, that's my guess!

04STI - My first brand new car!!

A rep at the Chicago auto show said there are no fog lights behind the covers. I just checked and see that the official STi website does not say there are fog lights any more either. I think it originally did, but now all it says is, "The front fascia features four high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps with smoke tinted lenses and distinctive STI fog light insert covers for a no-nonsense look." Four HIDs??? Interesting. Does that mean high and low beams are HID?

Hopefully. The STi at the Peterson Auto Museum had low beam HID's and halogen high's. It kinda sucked because you could see the difference in the light color. Another of the first things I'll do if they end up being HID's and halogens is go get those Sylvania SilverStar's for the high beams.

Yeah, I know there have been questions over the fogs and the HIDs. I can't think of any car that has 4 HID beams...they are just pretty unnecessary for highs.

I'll see if I can't find something more out in a few weekends at the KC auto show.

Either way....I'll take it!

What typical car looks like the STi? Maybe the WRX but that's hardly a typical car either...I'd assume typical means the hoards of civics, accords and camrys you see out there (not bad cars, but also not machines as you suggest the Evo looks like)

The Evo to me looks more "typical" than anything[/i]

Everything but the front of the EVO looks like every other 4 door econocar to me. Except for those euros (ok, that's not a plus) and the wing on the back.

The front.....let's not go there. I'm sure some people like it and more power to them...but damn, I don't see it. The EVO VII was about as wild as that front end should get. Rounding off the EVO.....ucky!

Honestly, once seen in person the STi is NOT typical. It is a MACHINE alright. My wife and I stopped by the German Subaru dealer and he had a blue with gold wheel STi in their showroom. All I have to say now is I have zero doubts I will love the car. Before I was concerned it might be nasty after a few years..nope..it really has that "blue Ferrari look to it." Not that is looks like a Ferrari, but it screams supercar in every sense imaginable!!
