Re: Evan's 2012 SWP Hatch

I just sent back my license plate garnish lol. Quality is amazing but it just wasnt my taste, you should post more pics of the cf diffuser. Ive been looking for that whole rear black piece to swap out and have it all carbon fiber but i havnt found any yet.
Ya the quality is pretty amazing. I did have some issues with fitment, but with some extra 3M tape I got it to be pretty flush.

Here are a few more pics of the diffuser. If you manage to get ahold of one, I would recommend putting something on the part of the diffuser that is directly above your exhaust pipes. I got mine used and it had a little bit of clear coat damage. I decided to put some gold tape above it to reflect the heat. A little overkill, but it does look pretty cool and it's functional (especially when I'm gonna be catless) ;)

Are you that bad at math?

$x.xx (101oct) X5 + $x.xx(91 oct) x (gallons you have) = $xx.xx
vs.
$x.xx (93oct) x ~14 = $xx.xx

Come on Evan... What would Fran think of you now?! (7th grade math teacher)
I'm aware of the math. Come on Charlie, at least I've done some pretty intense math in my days. The question is more are you better off having over 93 octane for a few bucks more or the same price. At the place that I went, the price for 93 and 100 is pretty close, so I usually just go for the 100.

lol ya. 93 is pretty expensive at that place. You should try the super station in Sunol; it's priced competitively and cheaper most of the time.

I'll check it out! I'm glad there are other options out there. Using 93 in the Cayman?

My STI; it is back. Long story. :D
Whaaaat?! That's awesome! Gotta check it out some time. Maybe a race fuel run some time and you can show me some of these roads up here. I feel like I have a good grasp of the driving roads in the Berkeley Hills and Orinda area, but I know there's a lot more out there.

If we meet up sometime, I'll show a couple in the south bay and one in Oakland Hills. It's more exciting than the Berkeley / Lafayette side IMO.

I'm down. I've been on a few nice roads on the other side of the bay also. Woodside road is probably my fav over there.

Both ;) But I tend to like technical stuff a bit more. I found a few amazing roads in Orinda where the speed limit is 55 with really amazing long banked sweepers. I always get sketched out though. I mean if the road is rated at 55, then it wouldn't be that hard to go double that. I feel like it's one thing going 40 in a very technical, winding roads and a completely different situation when you get pulled over going 100 in a long sweeper.

Re: Evan's 2012 SWP Hatch

ok flame suit on... I'm considering getting my car either vinyl wrapped or plasti dipped for the upcoming winter months. I will be doing many miles on the freeway and lots of skiing shortly and I want to protect the paint for a season. I can either wrap the car or dip it professionally at wholesale cost. I cant say the exact cost but let's just say for now that vinyl is under a grand and dip is under half a grand. The colors I'm considering are matte white, grey, blue, and maybeeee orange if I'm crazy (or on drugs).

Honestly I'm leaning towards plasti dip right now for the following reasons:
Super cheap
Only leaving it on for one season
Easy to repair rock chips (only requires a respray)
Does not damage clear coat like vinyl can
Easy to remove (compared to vinyl)
Easy to wash

Really the only downside I see is that it just has a negative stigma. Blah blah blah it comes out of a spray can. But really, how is it any worse than putting a giant sticker on your car for at least 8 months. I know I'm probably opening up a can of worms here, but just remember it's only for the winter season and I am doing it to protect the paint from many highway miles and winter conditions.

Curious what you guys think and what colors I should look into.

ya, it's not too bad if the whole car is dipped. Look at some videos on Youtube. The guys channel is: dipyourcar
Ya I've seen their videos. It was after seeing their work that I started considering plasti-dip. I also tried black dip on the front bumper ducts and was pretty impressed with the material and durability. I wonder if the stuff increases drag?
