Hi everyone, my daughters 2012 WRX has ringland failure at 153k, the car is in great shape otherwise.
I understand the ej257 sti engine is the same block, larger intercooler , 45 more horsepower.
Will the sti 2.5 liter ej257 easily swap into the 2012 wrx? I'm looking for better reliability and a fun project.
I have a donor engine, complete with intercooler, ecu, harness etc and new rods, pistons, rebuild kit, stainless exhaust, already ordered.
My thoughts are, if the sti engine harness inputs/outputs are the same, and the harness plug is the same, just bolt it up, and maybe flash the wrx ecu with custom tunes? Or can I use the STI ecu without ignition lockout issues?
If not , I'll just rebuild the wrx 2.5 liter and make upgrades to it? What's the best option?
