Hi all, I'm new to the WRX community and have some, probably newbish, questions about the STI's ECU.

Say I installed a good bit of aftermarket exhaust/Intake parts (turbo back, header, up-pipe, CAI) and throw in a BOV for shits & giggles.. Adding all this airflow, on previous ECU's I have worked with in the past would tend to lean the A/F ratio quite a bit, and a piggyback, S-AFC or other other means of Air Fuel adjustment would be neccessary. How does the STI fair in this category? Would an AFC be an ideal means of adjusting the A/F?

Unfortunatley due to my location they are no real "tuners" so to speak with the proper equipment to do any ECU reprograming or DynoTuning for an S-AFC or the like, and I certainly would be unable to do it myself, unless there were some general settings floating around somewhere. Just curious, and am looking for to firing up an STI in the near future! :D

Thanks!

The car is so new....we really can't say a whole lot about how well the ECU is working stock and how well tuners will be able to reflash it.

Heck....we are just trying to figure out how to get rid of the knock issues with the stock ECU!

like CloNe said, the ecu is very new and nobody's cracked it yet. for comparison wrx's don't like to have a bunch of bolt ons put on them, you really need a reflash or stand alone engine mgmt. to get them to run right and make good power. maybe the STi ecu will be a better learner, but i kind of doubt it.

not to flame, but watch your language (i don't care, but the owners of the board might).

also, before everyone else jumps on you, bov's are not a performance mod on subarus. if you want the sound then by all means rock on, but the stock valve works just fine until you get to big boost numbers.

S-AFC II will work great on it. It does run a tad lean especially in the midrange which is particularly dangerous with the timing being so aggressive. I'm actually going to try the E-Manage to solve the fuel and timing issues. I"m even working on a plug and play harness. I will keep people posted.
