Today starts a new journey and new car for me.

A 2001 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS.

I have always wanted to own one of these cars in my lifetime ever since they started selling them in the United States back in 1998. Unfortunately, I was only a teenager and could not afford it at the time. Then at the end of my high school life, Subaru decided to release the Impreza WRX and like many other magazine boy racers, I wanted one. If you ever watched the commercials, you would know why.

Throw some years into the future around October 2006, I decided to go car shopping in New Hampshire where I was stationed at the time. I was looking at a 2003 Impreza WRX in pretty good shape. I wanted it, but when I got the loan check in my hand, the car was already sold. I was pissed. I wanted a Subaru and the previous transaction irked me. I went to a Subaru dealership (I think Manchester, NH) because I found a 2004 WRX STi with less than 30,000 miles on the odometer for the same price of a brand new WRX. I thought it was good deal looking back at it now, considering the cost of a 6-speed transmission and the Brembo brakes.

I owned that 2004 WRX STi up to December 2010 and sold it for whatever I had left on payments. I keep beating myself, that I shouldn't have sold it and miss driving it. So the entire time I was in college, I was getting by my old man's pick-up. To which, I'm not complaining, that truck was awesome. Now that I have graduated and moved on to a different state with no vehicle and bumming rides off my room-mate to work, it was that time again.

This time, I found a vehicle about two hours away from where I live but it was the car I always wanted. The 2001 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS. This car is pretty much a blank canvas for me with a few water spots (rust). Now I have the car I always wanted and can have the car what will be in the years to come.

Brake calipers came in today. Going to confirm some things, then going to order a rebuild kit for them once confirmed.
Then clean them up along the way. Time to get work done on them.

JDM Version 7 STi steering wheel. I've been kind of hesitant to install this because I would like to retain my cruise control and that requires using a Dremel on this.
Still up in the air. Again, going to confirm some things if all else fails, the Dremel it is.

Decided to swap out the old steering wheel the previous owner install.
Airbag wire in the old steering wheel was missing.
Kind of explains the Airbag warning light.
Swapped out the steering wheel back plate from the USDM 2002-03 WRX onto the JDM 2001-02 STi wheel.
No fitment issues. No use of Dremel required, even though I did use it on the JDM back plate.
Retain my factory cruise control no problems.
