Okay here it is. List of dealers to avoid (for now). I've been meaning to do it (seeing how I got burned), and others mentioned it so, bam. Please try to submit only the pertinent information.

Who: Dealer in question
Where: Dealers location/address, etc
How much: Of a mark-up

I'll get the ball rolling.

Bob Baker Subaru
El Cajon, CA
$5,000

Re: STi trademarks!!

folks,

unless you HAVE been on a waiting list guaranteeing you MSRP, everyone i contact (west coast dealers from oregon and nevada -- ALL OF THEM), the cheapest is $2000 over msrp...

it sucks. but they know it... right now the STi is a sellers market. just wait i guess...

dealerships can order STi's ?

Timmons Subaru
Long Beach, CA
told me they would sell for MSRP. call back two days later and they're $5000 over

South Coast Subaru
Costa Mesa, CA
stay away from these guys. the guy told me they have a markup, all have premium stereo systems installed, "paint sealant" , some sort of VIN# etching on the glass, ... the list goes on. I wouldn't expect to see one anywhere under $40k at this place.

I scooped this up out of the General Forum. I thought it would be nice to follow Alfredo's lead and keep these altogether...

Available blue and gold at Lancaster Subaru in Lancaster, CA for a mere $8000 over MSRP. I placed a deposit down in December and they would not agree to sell for MSRP then but said it would be "close". I'll have them mail my check on Monday. Supply and demand, baby, . . . . . . . . . . . I just don't have that much "demand".

STi Pinging?

Called three different dealers in my area (Wisconsin) and two in Minn. None of them are claiming mark ups, One says absolute MSRP only, not a penny more. Two want $2000 down to place an order. Lacrosse WI (Dahl Ford/Subaru) was least pleasant to talk to...

Called Madison WI (Don Miller Soobie), LaCrosse (Dahl Ford/Soobie, and Eau Claire, WI (Chilson Motors-Where I ordered Mine) Chilson is Best bet, LaCrosse is worst.
If you got to Minnesota, Bloomington Acura/Subaru is the #1 choice.

If you look at the original post for this thread you will notice that the information was succinct and to the point. It seems to me that we are getting away from that with some of the wordier posts. This is not the law mind you, just my two cents.

Stevens Creek Subaru located in Santa Clara, CA quoted me that they would sell me an STi that was coming in at $4995 over MSRP. I had pre-ordered at another dealership who promissed me MSRP. I explained this to the guy who called me from Stevens Creek Subaru. The guy was very rude and made me feel like I didn't know anything. Telling me that I would never get one from that dealership. He talked to his GM and called me back saying that he will sell the car to me for $2000 over MSRP. I told the guy that I would pay no more than MSRP. This must have really pissed the guy off cause he started telling me that I would never get one, that I was waiting for a dream of a car. I am in no hurry to get one so I will can wait til they go down in price or at least at MSRP. We will see. I might end up getting a used RX-7.
