Lock will try and keep all wheels turning the same speed. If you do this, do it only on slippery surfaces or snow. If you try this on dry pavement and turn, you'll get a lot of noise and grinding as the transmission tries turning all the wheels the same speed.

Full open leaves the differential open, transferring torque at the standard 35:65 ratio.

kurtisiaka, go do this. today, i put it in "lock", drove around a parking lot and when it started to bind when turning tightly, i could dial it out (by dialing it towards "open"/green). kinda cool.

yep, in auto, it "automagically" adjusts the amount of lock to prevent the binding. but i thought it was cool to do it myself...okay, only barely. :)

Yeah, and it actually won't hurt anything to use the lock, either.
