Well, needing an extra battery depends i guess on how much power you exceed over the stock one. I guess no one really knows how much power a stock car is using.

Just curious, what total power are you guys installing in your cars?
300W for the sub? 200W for the 4 speakers? Which would make the current 500W/12V = 41.67amps... which is still way below the 90amp max.

I'll take an uneducated guess that the DCCD is the reason for the larger alternator. If I recall, it controls locking with an electromagnet putting pressure on a clutch pack of some sort. That electromagnet could use a lot of power at full lock?

alright....the by 4 is cabin speaks......x1 for the sub.....how do you have those amps setup? Curious what's running what.

I've never seen a reason for a new battery unless you are parking and playing. As long as the car is running, you can pull the battery out....well, unless you have so much crap you are always exceding the system supply...but then you are toast either way.

The caps are nice though....just never installed one myself.

I have an Xtant X604, 75X4, bi-amped into a set of Mb Quart QSD 216s in the front doors, the other 200X2 amp is an Xtant model left over from last year that I got a real good deal on so I am using that for the Mb Quart coax's I have in the rear deck with the gain turned way down so I don't over power them. The 600X1 is a Kicker amp for the L7 10" Kicker sub. I will take some pics tonight after work and post them.

I have no idea, other than a small 8" JL in the stock location in my Supra, this is the first sub with decent power going to it that I have experience with. So far I like it, it seems about as clear as a sub can be.

YIKES!!!!!! dont pull out the batt in a computer controlled car!!!!! the batt's other function, besides the main one (starting the car) is to filter the "bad" power coming from the alternator. you pull out the batt when the engine is running and you risk frying some circuits...

i have a kicker 600.4 driving mb quatr qm 216.61 in front doors
infinity kappa 2 ways in back
kicker 600.1 bridged to 1200 watts drivind a dual voice coil 4 ohm woofer. my lights dont blink....power isgood...notice more rpm's at higher volumes(while sitting still. :wink:

600.1 is driving a solo baric l7 in a sealed box. all gains on amps at less than half.... 130 db spl.....noy bad ....L7's rule nice and tight and they take all the power you can give.
