Does anyone how many amps the car is using stock (without radio)? I wanna know how powerful a stereo system I can make without discharging the battery or adding a more powerful alternator.
nope. my install place mentioned nothing about the need for an extra battery. a cap on the sub is highly recommended though.amdmaxx said:those of u putting in AMPs and woofers - Aren't you required to add an additional battery to run everything smoothly?
only if you run the stereo with the car off. more batteries=more work for the alternator.amdmaxx said:those of u putting in AMPs and woofers - Aren't you required to add an additional battery to run everything smoothly?
YIKES!!!!!! dont pull out the batt in a computer controlled car!!!!! the batt's other function, besides the main one (starting the car) is to filter the "bad" power coming from the alternator. you pull out the batt when the engine is running and you risk frying some circuits...CloNeGTS said:I've never seen a reason for a new battery unless you are parking and playing. As long as the car is running, you can pull the battery out....well, unless you have so much crap you are always exceding the system supply...but then you are toast either way.
