I am trying to build a list of rumors for all to see. So if you could reply to this post with:

-Year (when you heard it's coming out)
-Specs (particular specs you have heard)
-How Many? (how many you have heard are coming over)
-Source (was it your uncle's friend who knows the local subie dealer? etc)

If you want any of this posted for you on your behalf anonymously, please contact me via email.

This is more of a confirmation not a rumor. I was at the scca Susquehannock Trail ProRally and a friend and I spoke to none other that the Marketing Director of STi!!!
We asked him if the Sti was coming and he said in a japanese accent: "Definetly!" He said it would arrive sometime late 2002!!

Not the first time I've heard late 2002 as a 2003. I'm hearing this more and more often. We may see an STi in our driveways in about a year!

I just got back from the dealer in my area here and I keep asking him about the STi. They already have them, but he said "the US will be getting them in 2003." I dunno if that means 2002 as a 2003 model year, or 2003, early next spring as some of the other rumors have been saying. Anyways, good news!

i heard the STi is coming as a late 2003 model or as an early 2004 (in US model years). It will cost around 30,000 and have about 270 bhp. I heard this from my local Subaru dealer. The also said you wouldnt be able to find one for less than 4,000 mark up. Oh yea, it will be left side drive....

Just got back from my dealer (Brown's Subaru of Long Island) this morning. I talked to the sales manager, and he denied having any dates until I pressed him a bit. He finally caved and explained that Subaru is waiting until Mitsubishi announces the Evo performance numbers, then they will go off of that. Essentially, Subaru is just going to add 20 HP to the Evo numbers. If the Evo makes 250 HP, the STi will make 270, etc.

Take it for what you will.

-Year (when you heard it's coming out)
At least 11 months away still. Q3 or Q4 2003 as a 2004 model

-Specs (particular specs you have heard)
Similar to UK spec, we might lose the cool seats as Americans are fat.

-How Many? (how many you have heard are coming over)
"limited" is what I've heard. 1200-1700 are the most common numbers

-Source (was it your uncle's friend who knows the local subie dealer? etc)

various rumbles from the I-club.

<STi Update 1>
Mitsubishi and Subaru are playing alittle game with each other.
Mitsubishi knows Subaru will launch the Sti as soon as they launch the Evo VII. So they are waffling abit on release date now as well as being very vague on pricing. I saw the same article as all of you in Sports Compact Car. He says he heard Evo Vll will be in the middle to upper 30s. This is all comments from our regional trainer. He told me he feels the Sti is ready to go soon as Mitsubishi launches the Evo.

<STi Update 2>
Subaru will add two kind of model.
They will start sell early May.

a) WRX STI Limited.
Bace model: WRX STI
Engine : RA Spec C model's Engine (280PS/39.2kg.m)(But not VF34 Turbo)
Exteria : STI front spoiler, STI rear spoiler

b) S202 STI Version
Engine : Modify RA Spec C engine (320PS/39.2kg.m)
Exteria : STI rear spoiler
Brake : Brembo with light weight Slit rotor
Rim : RAYS ( Maybe STI parts )
Others : Piro-ball lateral link, Titanium maffler, Alloy pedal
400 cars only

I don't have any photo yet.
I will send to you it when I get.

****Note****
Impreza will change August. ( 2003MY) ( Maybe STI model will supply October or Norvember.) Everybady think Subaru & STI has a lot of stock of Impreza in Factory.
Also rear spoiler......
They need to try sell them before August..........
Then supply this model.

Maybe some of this will support the theory of SOA debuting the sti at the rim of the world. What better way to show the flagship car than to let there future star in peter solberg drive the sti out into the subaru area.
