With the stock clutch I would get a clunk from the back of my car when I shifted very quickly from 1st to 2cnd and let the clutch out fast. The clunk is the rear sub-frame bottoming out. I have purchased the whiteline rear bushing kit but have not installed them yet.

Have a freind ride in the back of the car and lie down on the seat. He will be able to listen just behind the center console and tell you if the noise is coming from the tranny or the rear end of the car.

I have switched to an Exedy stage 2 clutch and I now when ever I shift from 1st to 2cnd, sometimes from 2cnd to 3rd, I get a small clunk from the rear sub-frame. The stage 2's engagement is very sudden and can't be feathered.

Are you hearing the clunk only in the lower gears or during every shift?
