Re: Clou's PBP STI

I basically just chose the kartboy because it's gotten the most rave reviews.

Btw, I drove for about 100km today with the XPT tune and the car is noticeably quicker...and maybe it's just me but the car also seems louder. XPT doesn't seem to have that big of a following here but so far I'm really liking the tune.

little interior update...

Just installed my kartboy ss today.

Oh Dagz, I'm pretty sure you can run the cables from the Alpine HU through to the center console, but you'll have to remove the factory outputs and just feed the Alpine cables through. I might end up doing that later, but ran out of time today.

Re: Clou's PBP STI

Dagz, took a look at it again today. All you have to do is feed the Alpine cables underneath all the panel pieces which you have to remove to install your short shifter. After that, you can remove the stock usb and aux plugs- they just come right out. You have to drill through the walls where the stock usb and aux are and then you can just feed the cables through. I didn't end up doing it because I wanted to keep the stock connections intact in case I put the old HU back in, but I still didn't want the cables in the glove because it's just inconvenient to have to open/close the compartment.

I did this instead.

Easy access to the cables and when I want to hide them I just put them under the seat.

that car with some 18x9+ gun metal grids or TE's would be SEX
Quoted for truth. But definitely TEs. No knock-off wheels!

I thought the 11's all had auto climate control?

I was actually looking at both sets last night. I probably won't have the money for them this summer, but I'll probably pickup the Volks sometime next year.

I think my next step is to get a stage 2 pro tune and do the RCE yellows, sway bars, and kartboy endlinks.

Naw, the base '11 doesn't have auto climate control. TBH I didn't look at the differences between the base and the sport tech package close enough. Had I known I wouldn't get fog lights, HIDs, and auto climate control I probably would have gone for the sport tech package instead.

Re: Clou's PBP STI

Volk SL's are hot on PBP but Volks in general are expensive. Most expensive wheels I've ever owned were Vossens 20's that ran me about 2g's without tires. Volks are like 3g's and no tires heh. I'm still waiting to hear back from my salesman and see what they will give me for my trade in, I'm so ready to get into an STi.

I'd definitely like to go with all suspension mods at first since I won't be able to take advantage of engine mods unless I go to the track etc.

*gasp* NO HID's? i thought those were standard, PERIOD. looks like it'll be sport tech for me then. i'd like the basic creature comforts like HID's, fogs, auto climate control, a half decent stereo and a sunroof (basically everything my 05 wrx has in it stock) plus the car, i dont want the BBS wheels or the leather.

Yeah, I think the think the things that bug me the most about this car are the lack of heated mirrors, motorized seat adjustment, and HIDs/fogs. I knew I wouldn't be getting a sunroof and nav but I didn't really pay attention to the other options :p

Does anyone know how much of an improvement coilovers are over the RCEs? I'm thinking of delaying the other suspension mods so I can put coilovers on instead.

Really depends on what you use them for. I have coilovers but have never messed with the height after I put them on and got it at the height I wanted. I mess with damper settings every once in awhile but that's about it.

I guess if you don't plan on tracking or autocrossing etc .. coils are probably not worth spending the money on. But that's my opinion.

ive always been on the fence about coils....especially living in NEPA with these winters....hard to get that perfect drop without coils too at the same time.

Re: Clou's PBP STI

DAMN smh well sport package for me it will be. how much was the car off the lot as is?
When I was buying mine there weren't any PBP at any of the local dealerships so I had the fleet manager from my dad's company get me one from the east coast. Sticker price was around 38k and then I spent around 3k worth of options + the installation fee.

I'm thinking of going back to my original choice for springs, Tanabe DF210.

I like the look, but I can't find much info on the ride quality.

edit: Oh, btw, just found this fog light kit for 2011. Ordered the kit and I'm going to order a HID conversion kit from import image.
