Mine will be my daily driver starting Sat afternoon when the guy who bought my Legacy picks it up. I can't wait but am kind of feeling guilty about putting my baby though my daily commutes, but that is what I got the car for is to drive it and enjoy it. I should have the stone guard film finished tonight so that will make me feel a little better about it.

BTW Josh, I wouldn't suppose you know a Ron T? He just told me about you getting an STi also, if it's you?

I'm not originally from the area, but I usually make the annual trip to Chicago for HIN at the end of the month and meet up with a large group of Celica owners. Unfortunately, I won't be making it to the HIN in June this year because of my wedding.

However, I'm going to try and make it for the second HIN later in the year. Hopefully we can get a group together then.

Ron T...doesn't ring a bell, but I'm usually bad with names.. where did you meet him?

I did talk to someone about the stone guard, but his feeling was that since it cost so much to put on and stuff ($500+) that you'd be better off saving that money and get a new paint job if you need it down the line.

*shrug*

I did end up stopping by ABT to get a system installed, and while I was there, they mentioned that the STi's are all coming in to get their stereo's installed...:)

my daily commute is nearly 20 miles each way, and all over local roads, and to be honest with you, I think the car is too fast for local roads. you mash the pedal and suddenly you're...at the speed limit...it's fun on the merging lanes, but it's like the car is saying, "but I can do so much more than this..."

CloNeGTS, keep us posted when you are up in the area.

daghdha, I met Ron through the local Supra group and he has a friend that I met named Josh. He called me the other day and said Josh got an STi also, so I thought maybe it was you.

I don't know about a new paint job. I still think the stone guard would be cheaper down the road. You will still have to deal with stone chips up to the point you decide to get a re-paint. Not to mention what rock chips do to headlights. Anyway, it's up to you.

Yeah I am planning on stopping by ABT this weekend to finalize everything and make an appointment to get everything installed.

My commute is mainly expressways, about 32 miles one way. I miss my old Supra I used as a commuter. It's easier to manuever through traffic with some power.

rob with a supra...if I saw him, maybe I would recognize him, but man...you'd think that I would be the only one named josh that has a STi...what are the chances?

If you do stop by ABT this weekend, I ended up talking with jeff brown (salesman), justin & Don (the installers) tell them I said hi. :) You getting your stuff from ABT? They have that policy of not installing stuff that you didn't buy from them...

32 miles one way...well, you should be done with the break-in period already then. :)

I live about 60 miles from chicago. I come to Arlington Heights/Schaumburg once a week now. I always go to Mitsuwa to pick up Magazines, books, cds, dvds and groceries. Then i usually hang for the day and night with friends and drive home around 3-4 a.m. When i get my license plates you will know its me when you see me zooming around. My plates will be very consipcuous and identify me to a tee. Peace!!

Meet: EVO - STi - Others

Gee, let me guess "X JAPAN" :D I will keep an eye out.

So far I have only seen 1 other STi out on the road. Maybe we should have a little meet at Mitsuwa one of these weekends, I have never been there before and would not mind checking the place out.

Yeah thats what it should be unless the state f**ks it up somehow. They have done it before with a previous all letter license plate i got. I just dread getting my plates for the STI. I hope they are done correctly!!

P.S. If you see an S2000 with the plates "Shirow X" thats me too. My RX-7's plates are "Kurenai" the title of an X-japan song which loosely translated means "Red as Blood". I had the car repainted a real deep crimson so it was a perfect fit.

I'm in the Chicago area (western subarbs like) and I just got my STi (Blue&Gold).

I'm pretty pleased with the experience too. I only had to wait two months for it. I ordered it in the beginning of May and here we go on July 1st it came in.

I'm in NW burbs (Arlington Heights). Blue/gold STi, picked it up May 23rd at Subaru of Schaumburg.

I've seen one other STi in the area (blue/gold), and I think it's the guy I met at the dealership when I was getting my car. He said he worked in Mt Prospect.
