Car: 2011 STI Hatch
I have been tracing down this CEL P2441 for months now and I can not figure it out for the life of me. Hoping someone here could shed some light on the subject.
It started back in July of 2022. Out of nowhere the code popped up on startup, no previous issues or modifications had been made. I checked the code and found it was the RH Air Pump Solenoid Stuck Closed. Without initial testing, I figured the solenoid was corroded and stuck shut being that this was a common issue on these cars due to design. I then proceeded to purchase a new solenoid and install (Which is a royal PITA, removing intake etc.)
After the install I drove the car around the block and on the 4th startup cycle the same code pops back up. I felt defeated at this point.
I searched through the service manual and completed all the steps they recommend for troubleshooting that I could. Things I've verified so far are: Fuse is good, Relay is good, Power to relay is good, Power to Solenoid connector is good, Ground from Solenoid Connector and Relay are good. (I've confirmed Service Manual Steps: 1, 2, 3[by jumping relay], 7, 14, 15, 16, 17)
The only other thing I have yet to check is the connector at the ECU which the service manual lists to check. (Service Manual Steps: 18, 19) I also don't have the test equipment to plug in to the OBD2 to manually switch on / off the solenoid, but I was able to actuate it by jumping the relay.
If anyone has any knowledge on this subject PLEASE HELP. I'm desperate at this point lol I would like to keep the system for smog purposes in California.
