i believe with the cobb greenspeed update, you will not be able to tune without a cel/limp mode going on. technically, you can tune for it using open source or a standalone ecu, and possibly ecutek (i'm less familiar with ecutek), however, finding a tuner willing to do it will be difficult to near impossible. it's a big liability for tuners to do this. the cobb gesi downpipe can be found for 1k ish, and will barely have any restriction as the tech that goes into high flow cats, specifically the gesi cat is greatly improved over the high flow cats of the old days. it's more expensive yes, but you can find the gesi downpipe for 1k ish, not necessarily 1200 (1200 seems fair with install labor though).

lol you quoted wrong. but it's ok.

if the tuner says you need a gesi one, it's likely because the EPA only recognizes the gesi cats as sufficient in reducing emissions (cats have to have some sort of approval number on them). So it's possible that the tuner doesnt want to take on the liability risk for the invidia downpipe. it is more likely you can find a different tuner willing to tune with the invidia catted downpipe, but also it's one that wont perform as well as the gesi downpipe. i'm not sure on the full details regarding liability for tuners/shops with specific cats.

you can reach out to jason at jaztuning aka @yamahaSHO he is active on here and could tell you more about if he can tune with the invidia catted downpipe instead of the cobb gesi downpipe. but i wouldnt buy a catless one without having someone ahead of time who is willing to tune for it, which again, is unlikely to find in this day and age.
