now that's a funky spec. (new to me, at least.) not only is it not the metric version of miles per gallon (e.g. something like km/l) it's actually the inverse. weird. anyway, this converts to:

17.5 city
25mpg highway

Thanks for the info - saw it on the other site. Good to hear the STi is similar in weight to the WRX. I just hope the next spec we get is the price, in USD and CAD.

Actually, this is almost 200 lb heavier than the WRX. Very significant. But this is the way it has been all along, including overseas. Stronger, beefier parts = more weight.
Well 188 lbs over the curb weight of the WRX is not bad when you consider all the "goodies" that went into the STi. Lets not forget the 73 hp and 83 lbs-ft of torque added to the STi, as well as that power being available at lower rpm's - should be plenty to offset the slight increase in weight.

Saab R-3

Just talked to my Subaru salesperson today - she just heard from the dealer rep that the price for the STi would be between $48 and 53K CAD, not the 50 to 55 that I heard before. This is more inline with the quote that I had gotten from the same dealer rep before the unveiling of the car last year - about $10 to 12K CAD above the WRX price.

I also asked her about the possibility of a delete option for the stereo (a good 4 grand worth of unit and speakers w/ upgrades from Panasonic) and as far as she knows there is no delete option. I was hoping that a delete option could lead to a few grand drop off the top of the STi to be put into an afermarket unit. Not that there is anything wrong with the WRX stereo which is going in the STi, I like it in my WRX, but I would put an aftermarket MP3 player in if I could avoid the wasted money of replacing a decent unit that I just paid quite a bit for which was including in the price of the car.

One more thing too - the first cars are supposed to hit dealers around the end on May - could be dealer "show-cars" or personal "dealer-rep" cars. We could get our cars at the same time, but who knows?
