After hanging on every word from Steve Breen's site for the UK, I'm quite excited to see a source of information for this side of the Atlantic.

A year ago, my dealer had no idea what 'STi' meant, and found out about the WRX only a month before the local autoshow in Feb 2001. Needless to say, I'm starved for information.

Does anyone know if distribution to Canada and the States would be separate? Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I should pre-order, since my dealer will realize that the STi's here, only after they're all sold?

Even though there's likely noboby within a 700km radius of me who'll read this, I thought I'd post just in case.

My dealer, who has NO information on the STi, was slightly reluctant to accept a deposit, and he thought I was being premature. He suggested 1000, I said 500, he said sure.

I also discovered that although Vancouver (BC) has a larger dealership, and that Calgary (AB) has two dealerships, the volume of sales here in Edmonton is actually the largest in this half of the country.
FYI.

I was just at the dealership in North Vancouver and they have two deposits, one confirmed and one not [don’t ask me what that means I have no idea]. Anyhow, they said a deposit of $500 would be adequate as well. In addition, they were speculating that the Sti might be here by next May.

I was told that Vancouver is the Port of entry for the WRX and is therefore expected to be the same for the STi. I would think the introduction would be simultaneous, but with regulations and government agencies involved, logic and reason can not be relied upon.

Seats for sale

I am looking at getting an STi in perhaps the 2004 model year (assuming there is one)

I'd still like to stay up to date on current wrx/STi happenings though.

Does anyone have any idea what the Canadian $MSRP will be?
In budgeting how much I will need to spend, I've been changing the listed American $price over to Cdn funds, but that fluctuates alot. (and I even was considering importing one from the US if they did not bring the model to Canada because of the transmission/suspension/braking improvements over the regular wrx)

I'm in Ontario and I'm curious if anyone knows any more information on the approx. arrival date.

I've been shooting for 50-55k CAD, with destination tax, GST, and financing fees. Basically, 27-31% more than the WRX. Just an educated, calculated guess, though. :-?
Hmm...that would be too rich for my blood. I could get an Audi S4 for that price (which will be my second car)

I guess I'll have to deal with a wrx and do some work on it.
Maybe they'll have a stronger tranny by 2004ish

Oddly enough, I went downtown today (ottawa) and I saw an STi, I couldn't believe it, the only way I could figure was it was either imported from the UK (doubt it) or it was faking it. It had the STi front grilles and the (Jun?) headlight conversion plus a bodykit and larger wheels.

Oddly enough it had a local dealerships tags/platecover on it. I can't figure it out. Its not in North America yet is it?

Hey

I am in Calgary AB, my dealer has been very helpful in trying to get information for me. I had a 2.5RS which I had had fron new but was 3 yars old in Feb, I said should I wait for the STi or get a WRX? He said that he has been told that they will be here in Canada in June-July 2003! So I bought a WRX and have a deposit for a STi in line. He thought that there would be about 5 per dealer? Needless to say he has 5 in line (inclding me)!

Tom Amell from Rally in Edmonton called me today with an update on the STi. He told me that they were in a seminar last night with the Subaru reps; the STi will be here in May! He was fuzzy on the entire detail picture (because they are yet to be finalized) but he did tell me a few things...

- Price $46K-$47K
- Colours = Blue, Silver, White (no Black planned, but they are hoping to persuade the project lead)
- Preliminary plans are for a sedan only

My dealer has sent me some information, apparently the 2003 model has had a redesign. He confirmed that they are standard in Blue, White and Silver with maybe an option for black. He also said that the gold wheels would only be available on the blue and black. His rep told him that the new model would have the Prodrive type spoiler on the back and a more aggressive front end, the new look for 2003 can be seen just out here.
Looks gggggggrrrrrrrrrrreat to me.....

Well, there is still a risk even at the track.

Hey guys

Let me start off by saying I have a refundable deposit on a WRX STi as well at my dealer.

Having said that I am skeptical that the car will make it here.

I called up many dealers here in Ontario and most of them said they were sure it was coming. One salesman even told me that the car will be unveiled on May 24, 2003 somewhere in Quebec.

Who knows ?..
