All (and especially Murley),

I am thinking of getting an STi from one state and registering it in another. I am also planning on making it a lease. Is there anything special that I need to do to arrange this? I am assuming this is straighforward, but I've never done it. Anyone with experience here, please speak up!

Thanks in advance,

You don't need to do anything. It's very straighforward. Just be aware that you will pay the sales tax in your residence state and where you buy the car.

Yep, that's about it. You pay for the car at the dealer and pay for everything else in your home state.

Thanks for the responses. Here's what I am really worried about: the last Subaru I leased had the state taxes built into the monthly payments. If I am buying in another state, how do I make sure that the payments reflect my home state's taxes? Or, can I just have the payments exclude the tax and just pay a lump sum at registration? Who calculates this value--the dealer? It seems very confusing...

The math calculates your payment. cars price is 30,000/5 year loan/0% financing = $500 for the car. Just tell your dealer that you're gonna pay your own taxes and fees.
