Sometime within the next few hours this site will go down momentarily for the upgrade. I thought that I would have to start over and loose all my users and posts on this message board. After consulting with some friends, and other people in the same situation I am in we have come up with a solution that may save all the current users and posts.

However, if it works, those of you who have signed up for Postnuke will lose those accounts, but also if it works your new login/password for Postnuke and the forums will be what it has always been here. Phew! Confusing I know, but bear with me. :)

So as long as this works, then you will just login with your username and password that you have always used. Of course, I will explain this on the new site once I hopefully get it to go.

I hope everybody understands- I'm sorry for the confusion...

Thanks

JJ

Except for a few issues (i.e. smilies), it seems to have worked. If you are reading this, you already knew that. :D:D:D

The site looks nice JJ, but i did find a few bugs. The first time I visited the new site It logged me in automatically to someone elses account and I was able to go in and view the profile and everything. Dont worry I didnt mess around with it ;-). So I logged off that other account and logged into my account. Then all of a sudden I couldnt view the home page or any of the links at the top of the screen (ex.home, web links, reviews ...). It would just show the header and footer of the page with no content. Im just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this?

Everything works fine untill I login. And when I do Im restricted to only accessing my account info becuase the links on the top dont work for me, they say "you do not have access to whatever". and i also loose the table on the left of the screen. I dont know im just messing around with it right now.

Tb311:

If you want, I can delete your account and reinstall it, PM me your email address and I will do it right away.

All others:

The reason problems might be occuring like this is kinda technical, but here goes my try at a non-technical explanation:

When you signed up on the forums OR postnuke originally, the software issues you a usernumber that goes with your username. It identifies you by the number, not your username. What happened is that when you logged into postnuke, it dumped a cookie on your machine with your usernumber. When I dumped the users from the forums to the postnuke system, for those of you signed up on postnuke already the User number to username associations got screwed up.

Here's how you fix it:

1) Logout.
1A) CLEAR YOUR COOKIES

2)Login using your login and password from the old forums.

This will dump a new cookie file to your machine with the correct Usernumber. If the above procedure does not work, please PM me.

Thanks!!

JJ - just sent you an email about a problem I've been having with the new site. I figured out a temporary work around once I log in...first I go to the forums link <U>before </U>logging in, and copy the URL. <U>After</U> logging in, I don't see any link to the forums, but I just paste the link I just copied to the clipboard and it works fine. Is this because I signed up my postnuke account to be exactly the same username and password as the old site?

I've also been getting weird characters inserted in my messages after I submit them. The apostrophes were some weird text string...maybe something goofy with the visual mode?

I was just thinking that may be the problem...I'm using IE with Windows XP...maybe I'll try using Netscape. I think IE is not recognizing the frames properly

I have Win 2k Pro with IE 6.0.2800.1106 and it's been working fine.

My other PC has Win XP Pro with IE 6.0.2600.xpclnt_qfe.010827-1803 and it's been working well also.

Try deleting all your cache and history files. Maybe that'll do it.

If Alfredob had no problems (he was one of the ones the signed up on Postnuke pre-integration), maybe the problem is with browser history and cache? I don't know??

I'm just so sorry we are having problems...

I am going to email the guy who wrote this script to see if he can help..

In the meantime, If you are having problems that are preventing you from entering the site, like I said sign up under another username just to get you in and we will work it out one by one...

Sorry..
