Yeah, haha... I was telling my mom, rattling off numbers and stuff, and she was like, "that does not mean anything to me". I felt like that guy in the cholesterol commercials where he is answering his phone with the info, telling people at stop lights, in elevators, etc., that he lowered his cholesterol but I was telling people about the STi. Waiting for moments at work to throw it in a conversation.

The thing that gets me is the guys that I tell about the STi and they are like, "huh, an STi???" Then I am like you know the Subaru WRX? They are like "WRX?" I don't expect them to be as nuts as I am about it but a guy shoud at least know what the hell it is. How can you be a dude and not be into cars? I just don't understand that. Maybe it's just me.

Yeah, I know what you mean. In some ways when people ask what I am thinking of buying as our second car I tell them its a Subaru Impreza. They just look at me like "a Subaru huh? Why do you want a Subaru?" OH well. I told one of my friends about it b/c he was daydreaming about Z06s and M3s, and I told him for the money look at the STi. He said I was smoking crack. Oh well..to each their own.

I think it is best to keep our excitement amongst ourselves, "they" will never understand. After all, most people think of a noisy, crappy little box like an old 80's Loyal when they hear Subaru. Subaru is still competing against this image of a quirky, crappy car - fortunately the public is starting to understand that the entire lineup at Subaru consists of great cars. I have had a chance to drive most of them and I have been quite "imprezed".

I have had the same experience though - I tell people I drive a sportscar made by Subaru and they chuckle to themselves. I tell them it is a WRX and I get a blank stare. I tell them it is based on an Impreza and they laugh out loud. Even when they see it they think it is just another "fast-looking" car, until I take them out for a ripping drive in it and tell them it is, for the most part, quite stock.

Even people in the "car culture" seem confused when I mention the STi. This shows me that #1 these people get their knowledge of cars from movies like The Fast and the Furious, #2 they know only of cliche cars like integras, civics, celicas etc., and #3 they have never played games like Grand Turisimo 3 and others where we in N. America get to see cars that would never cross our borders. That is till now!

Trust me, if people doen't know the STi yet, just wait till it is on every car mag cover, winning every amateur racing event, screaming through commercials on TV, and generally slaughtering everything on the road that isn't modded to the max or has a six-figure price tag. So let the people know gentlemen, make them understand.

You know you guys have sum really incredible storys!!! People are so dumb latly its just disgusting~!! i feel like i live with a bunch of hill billys who think there 4X4 trucks are the shiet!! ahahhaha what a story....then we also have them dumb civics who think there the owners of the roads, shiet to me they are like a pack of ants infesting the streets, basically they arent shit there small NA and are slow if they even put a turbo kit on them ahahhaha POS's and then when i tell them yea im getten an STI, i get a blank stare and i can hear the wind and the ocean waves hitting the shores!! ahaha what a bunch of illteraite people, oh well i love being the under dogg!!!! thats the way to win the war!

So personally i think this STI is gonna be a scare to even sports cars, and its gonna be super funny when u beat this rich guy in his corvette or in his little cheap ass ferrari! aaajahahha i love the look on peoples face when they think your slow becasue u either have a 4 door sedan or in my case my crack whored focus ahahha that car is sick, ive put way too many people to shame i think its awesome!!!!!

but either way i cant wait for this car god dam im gonna drive 7 hours just to go see it revolve on the display ehhehehehhehe

I call that education. I don't know how many people I educated in my Supra. Now people expect it, but with the new STi no one will know and they will not expect me to tear ass pass them when they try to get me when a lane ends right after a stop light or an on ramp. And what I really love is coming out of toll booths. I will take it slow and see if anyone is trying to be the first up to the start of the lanes, then I will hammer it, it's great. Or if they get out a few seconds before me and then I come from no where and fly by even when they have it floored. Now I do not do anything stoopid I am very considerate and give people pleny of room. Actually I like to consider it a service cause after I teach them, next time they will know to get out of the way when they see one of those cars with the big scoop in the rearview.
